On May 18-19, the 1st China Maternal and Child Health Conference was grandly held in Beijing. Professor Li Fen from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University was invited to attend the opening ceremony and preside over the satellite meeting of maternal health along with Professor An Ruifang of our hospital.
The conference themed "Caring for maternal and child health throughout the life cycle" was jointly hosted by Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, Global Health Institute, George Institute for Global Health and United Nations Population Fund. Wang Longde, President of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Qiao Jie, President of Peking University Third Hospital and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Song Li, Deputy Director of Department of Maternal and Child of National Health Commission, Zhang Li, Deputy Director of the Office of National Working Committee on Children and Women under State Council, Amanda Henry, Senior Researcher of the Global Women's Health Project of George Institute for Global Health, Babatunde Ahonsi, Representative of United Nations Population Fund in China and Zhang Tuohong, Officer of the Representative Office of World Health Organization in China were invited to attend the conference. More than 100 experts from home and abroad attended the conference and delivered academic lectures.
The conference consists of 12 satellite meetings. Experts from relevant branches of Chinese Preventive Medicine Association held special discussions on hot issues in the field of maternal and child health in China. Professor Li Fen presided over the satellite meeting of maternal health. Besides, she was appointed by Chinese Preventive Medicine Association to contribute an article entitled "Progress in diagnosis and treatment of menopause" inHealth Times. Professor An Ruifang from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of our hospital was also invited to attend the conference and preside over the satellite meeting of maternal health.
