On the morning of March 24, 2024, the appointment ceremony for Honorary Director of Department of Gastroenterology was held in the Science and Education Building of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Lyu Yi, Vice President of XJTU and President of FAH, Feng Guanglin, Deputy Party Secretary of FAH, heads of United Front Work Department, Comprehensive Administration Office of FAH branch in Xi'an International Trade & Logistics Park, Department of Human Resources, Party Committee and President Office, Medical Administration Office of Medical Department and Publicity Department, Sun Siyu, Honorary Director of Department of Gastroenterology, He Shuixiang, Vice President of Yulin Hospital of FAH and Director of Department of Gastroenterology, members of Department of Gastroenterology and staff representatives attended the appointment ceremony.
The appointment ceremony was chaired by Feng Guanglin. He highlighted that Professor Sun Siyu is a leading scholar in the field of digestive endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound in China. He has established an innovative diagnosis and treatment system, led the formulation of multiple international guidelines, and obtained tremendous innovative achievements in engineering medicine, enjoying high reputation at home and abroad. It is believed that under the guidance and leadership of Professor Sun Siyu, Department of Gastroenterology will create novel breakthroughs and reach a new height.
Subsequently, Vice President Lyu Yi presented the letter of appointment and wore the FAH emblem to Professor Sun Siyu.
He Shuixiang stressed that Professor Sun Siyu has established profound achievements in endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of digestive diseases, development of novel surgical procedures, and research and development and translation of engineering medicine, etc. He is an influential expert worldwide and also possesses outstanding leadership capabilities and abundant practical experience in hospital administration, hoping that under the leadership of Professor Sun Siyu, Department of Gastroenterology can achieve leapfrog development in the future.
Professor Sun Siyu stated that it is honored to be the Honorary Director of Department of Gastroenterology of FAH. In the future, on the basis of previous exchanges and cooperation, he will further deepen the cooperation in engineering medicine and novel endoscopic technologies, and strengthen mutual assistance and exchanges in all aspects of medicine, education and research, thereby promoting continuous innovation and development of the discipline.
Vice President Lyu Yi highly recognized Professor Sun Siyu's achievements. He hoped that in the future, under the leadership of Professor Sun Siyu, Department of Gastroenterology can properly make top-level design of discipline development, further promote cooperation in all aspects, and open a new chapter in discipline development. He also hoped that Professor Sun Siyu could pay attention to the construction of medical sectors in iHarbour and "dual centers" in FAH, and strive to play a greater role as a leading scholar in medical career development and hospital modern administration.
