On December 22, 2018, the Summit Forum for Blood Diseases in Western China was successfully held in Xi 'an. The forum was hosted by Shaanxi Province Anti-Cancer Association, and co-hosted by Leukemia Committee of Shaanxi Province Anti-Cancer Association, Shaanxi Province Alliance for Blood Diseases, Quality Control Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Blood Diseases of Shaanxi Province and Hematology Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University. Professor Li Shuye, Chairman of Shaanxi Province Anti-Cancer Association and Secretary Ma Xinge of our hospital also attended the summit forum. Professor Zhang Mei and Director He Pengcheng from Hematology Department of the hospital served as the chairman and executive chairman of the summit forum. Over 200 hematologists from Gansu, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Yunnan and other western regions converged on this forum.

First of all, Professor Li Shuye delivered the opening remarks elaborating that in the process of firmly establishing the concept of comprehensive hygiene and health as well as deepening the medical and health system reform in China, a series of remarkable research accomplishments have been achieved in the field of hematology, especially in the sub-fields of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and tumor cell immunotherapy, representing the novel strategies and ideas in cancer treatment. This summit forum is conducive to the unity and cooperation among hematologists and improving the technical skills of hematology in western China.

Afterwards, Secretary Ma Xinge gave a speech and affirmed the accomplishments made by Hematology Department under the leadership of Professor Zhang Mei and Professor Liu Xin. As the core leader of Hematology Department, Director He Pengcheng along with his young colleagues jointly made tremendous efforts to inherit traditional values and attain flourishing development. He also stressed that we should adhere to the common law of disciplinary and social development on the pathway of disciplinary development. Under the situation of unbalanced regional development, it is of necessity to further pursue homogenous development, align with the international first-class development and service models and contribute to the development of hematology discipline in western China, even the national strategy of comprehensive health.

This summit forum focused upon advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for hematologic diseases, including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CART cell therapy and the construction of a precise diagnostic platform. With the new development and discovery as the crucial points, multiple experts made heated academic exchange and ideological collision through academic reports and case discussions.

Finally, Director He Pengcheng delivered the closing remarks, highlighting that this summit forum is an excellent platform for academic exchanges among hematologists inwestern China and targets the international frontier in the field of hematology, aiming to promote the development of hematology discipline in our hospital, pursue win-win cooperation with partners from western China and boost the hematology discipline in this region to a higher height.
