A mid-term report meeting for the National Key Research and Development Program of China entitled “Integration and Clinical Application of Novel MRI Techniques in the Assessment of Clinical Prognosis of Newborns with Focal White Matter Injury” led by Professor Yang Jian from Department of Radiology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, was successfully concluded in Xi’an Orient Hotel on December 23, 2018. Internationally-renowned pediatric neuroimaging experts, project leaders and multi-center leaders were invited at the meeting to share the latest progress in the MRI diagnosis and treatment of brain development of newborns and infants from the perspectives of clinical practice, application of MRI technique, research on neonatal focal white matter injury, prediction of cerebral palsy and focal white matter injury, structure report on cerebral palsy, and research progress in each sub-center,etc.
The mid-term report meeting was presided over by Professor Yang Jian, also the project director. Dong Yalin, director of Department of Science and Technologyof our hospital offered proposals on the National Key Research and Development Program of China, scientific research management and independent innovation capability of the hospital. Hu Junteng from School of Science and Technology of Xi’an Jiaotong University introduced the establishment and application of the National Key Research and Development Program of China and placed high expectations on the project led by Professor Yang Jian. Dr. Li Guobin from Shanghai United Imaging Healthcare Co., Ltd., Professor Xie Guoxi from Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor Bai Lijun from Life Science and Technology College of Xi’an Jiaotong University reported the progress in each sub-topic to the peers, respectively. In addition, the representatives from clinical multi-center units involved in this project briefly reported the big data collection and related research progress.
At the invitation of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Duan Xu, director of the imaging center of the nerve development laboratory from the University of California, San Francisco, gave a special lecture entitled "Multimodal Pediatric Brain MRI" featuring the application of the latest MRI imaging technique in the dynamic metabolism study during the neonatal, adolescent and pre-clinical periods, and elaborating the direction of MRI research which integrates structure, function and metabolism. Afterwards, Dr. Li Guobin delivered a speech with the topic of "Development and Manufacture of Neonatal MRI Auxiliary Equipment", explicitly introducing the coil specifically designed for the MRI compatible incubator and incubator system for newborns. Professor Xie Guoxi gave a speech entitled "Rapid MR imaging Based on Simultaneous Excitation and Data Sharing of Multi-slice Images" and primarily discussed the rapid MR imaging approaches and devices. Professor Bai Lijun delivered an attractive speech focusing on "Construction of Dynamic Template of Brain Magnetic Resonance for Chinese Newborns and Prognostic Evaluation Method Based on Individual Network Attribute and Characteristics". Subsequently, Dr. Li Xianjun briefly summarized the research progress and achievement in the field of brain development made by the hospital. Finally, the representative researchers from each center gave a brief report and heated discussion about the clinical multi-center study.
The mid-term report meeting provides an opportunity for all collaborators to fully and effectively communicate and exchange ideas, grasp the latest progress in the application of MRI technique and accelerate the cooperation and communication among multiple centers involved in this project. All researchers attending this mid-term report meeting place high expectations and demanding requirements upon upcoming clinical multi-center study on the basis of the Yizhen Eye for medical research launched by AccuRad Healthcare Technology Co., Ltd Xi’an.
