On October 12, the finals of the theme performance of cancer prevention and treatment, and infectious disease prevention and control of New Area Health Popular Science Works Solicitation Competition 2023 was held in the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU).

At the meeting, Ma Xinge, Party Secretary of the FAH of XJTU, and Mi Feng, Deputy Director of Publicity Department of National Health Commission, delivered speeches, respectively. After multiple rounds of screening, 19 health popular science presentations and stage plays rushed into the fierce finals.
With the rhythm of Kuaiban, the stage play entitled "Knowledge about the prevention and treatment of liver cancer in an uncle from Tianjin" rolled out. The stage play started by detecting a small mass in the liver of an uncle during physical examination, and his anxious wife took him to the hospital for definite diagnosis. Through the form of sitcom, the question of "why most liver cancer patients are diagnosed at advanced stage" was resolved. Medical staff delivered humorous performance to recommend the public to cultivate the awareness of early screening of cancer and pay attention to their health.

What's the difference between influenza A and common cold? How does influenza A spread? What’s the diagnosis and treatment for influenza A? The work of "The storming influenza A" from the FAH of XJTU informed the public of the concept and harm of influenza A, as well as the prevention and treatment of influenza A through lively sitcoms and rap songs, etc.

In the work entitled "Wish you good health", two staff from disease control centers popularized the knowledge of prevention and treatment of tuberculosis to the public through cross talk performance, letting the audience deepen the understanding of this disease in a relaxed and harmonious atmosphere.

The performers hoped to translate and transform profound medical knowledge into comprehensible common sense for the public, achieving the unity of knowledge and action. In the stage play of "Precise diagnosis of breast disease", medical staff performed singing and dancing to demonstrate how to self-diagnose breast disease, teach more females to identify potential breast lesions at early stage and seek professional medical assistance.

All participants utilized their knowledge reserves to create various popular science works. As health practitioners, they spared no effort to increase the knowledge reserve about disease prevention for the public and cultivated their responsibility of safeguarding their own health. The solicitation competition consisted of 9 themes, including women's health, children's and adolescents' health, myopia prevention and control, patriotic health and healthy lifestyle, health of the elderly, prevention and control of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer prevention and control, prevention and control of infectious diseases, and popularization of Chinese medicine.
