Recently, National Cancer Center issues the list of first pilot hospitals for quality control of standardized diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer. The First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) become one of the first “pilot hospitals for quality control of standardized diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer”. This demonstrates that the quality of standardized diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer in the FAH has been recognized by national authorities. Cervical cancer is the most common gynecological malignancy with the highest morbidity and mortality around the world. Although the three-level prevention system has been setup, middle-stage to advanced cervical cancer remains the major cause of cancer death among women in underdeveloped areas.

In end of 2017, the FAH established a gynecological tumor MDT team including Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Department of General Surgery, Department of Medical Imaging, Department of Pathology, Department of Radiation Oncology, Department of Oncology Surgery, Department of Urology and ICU. With the advantages of the comprehensive hospital, the MDT team has developed comprehensive treatment protocols for over a hundred gynecological malignant tumor patients with difficulty in diagnosis and treatment, broke disciplinary barriers, integrated disciplinary advantages and improved the ability to diagnose and treat difficult and complicated tumor cases significantly. Approval of the first “pilot hospitals for quality control of standardized diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer” demonstrates affirmation of the comprehensive ability of diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer in the FAH. We will further promote the quality control of standardized diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer, increase the level of standardized diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer, improve the comprehensive rescue and treatment ability for cervical cancer patients and safeguard the happiness of thousands families.
