On July 29, 2023, the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) successfully organized the finals of National Competition for Wound Repair Nursing Cases (Northwest region). Wu Yuexiang, Deputy Chief Nurse from General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, Pei Qi, Deputy Chief Nurse from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, Lyu Lin, Deputy Chief Nurse from Gansu Provincial Hospital, Deputy Chief Nurse Ruan Ruixia and Chief Nurse Wen Xiulin from the FAH served as the judges. More than 140 teachers from the teaching base of Xi'an International Enterostomal Therapist School, students in the 12th training session and specialist nurses in wound and stomal therapy from five provinces in northwest China participated in the competition. Head Nurse Guo Yuan and Li Bao from Department of Cosmetic and Maxillofacial Surgery of the FAH chaired the competition.

Fourteen contestants were shortlisted for the finals by expert assessment from 39 cases submitted from Shaanxi, Xinjiang, Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai and Yunnan. The contestants explicitly introduced the baseline data, wound evaluation, treatment principles, treatment process and experience summary of clinical cases. The evaluation experts assessed and scored each case from the overall evaluation and treatment and on-site demonstration, and provided professional guidance for the cases reported by the contestants. After intense competition, Zhao Pengwei, a stromal therapist and nursing practitioner from Department of General Surgery in the FAH, grabbed the first prize. Chen Xinli from Xi'an Daxing Hospital, Gao Guangneng from People's Hospital of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture and Luo Zhengzhong from General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University received the second prizes. These four contestants will participate in the national competition on behalf of the northwest region. Wang Huijun from the FAH and other contestants won the third prizes.



Professor Qiao Lina delivered a concluding speech. The success of this competition showcases the achievements and progress in the wound nursing specialty in five northwest provinces, establishes a communication platform for nursing practitioners, and effectively improves the nursing care for difficult wounds.
