On July 22, 2023, "West Ambulatory Surgery Alliance for Venous Disease" was successfully established in the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) under the preparations of Lu Shaoying, Director of Department of Vascular Surgery.

Professor Zhao Yu, Professor Zhao Jichun, Professor Ge Xiaohu and Professor Gong Kunmei served as Honorary Chairman. Professor Lu Shaoying from the FAH and Professor Hu Zhipeng from General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University served as Executive Chairman of this meeting. Besides, many well-known experts from different provinces were invited to deliver lectures and comments, bringing intriguing academic contents to the meeting. More than 40 practitioners in vascular disease from Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Ningxia and Shaanxi conducted intense discussion.

At the meeting, Director Lu Shaoying delivered a speech and distributed a questionnaire entitled “Selection of diagnosis and treatment patterns for varicose veins” to all participants. The survey results were assessed and analyzed on the spot, and experts gave suggestions on how to better and faster realize ambulatory surgical mode for venous diseases according to different levels of hospitals.

The establishment of West Ambulatory Surgery Alliance for Venous Disease sets up a convenient communication platform for the development of ambulatory surgery in all levels of hospitals in the western region, which contributes to standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of venous diseases and achieving the goal of helping the grassroots hospitals and serving the public. Finally, Professor Lu Shaoying highlighted that the Alliance will include more scholars at home and abroad in the future to enhance the influence, aiming to set up an excellent and standardized platform in the field of varicose veins.
