From July 13 to 15, 2023, the 20th Academic Exchange Meeting of Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing of Chinese Nursing Association was held in Wuhan, Hubei province. With the theme of "Keeping integrity and innovation, Pioneering and taking responsibility, Cooperation and sharing", this meeting focuses on science, innovation and fine management, features in-depth discussion of the frontier issues, deepens the planning of innovative measures and promotes high-quality development of wound, ostomy and continence nursing. Nearly 1,900 nursing practitioners from 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions attended the meeting.

The wound and ostomy nursing team of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) attended this meeting and received multiple awards. Chief Nurse Qiao Lina was selected as Member of Professional Committee of Wound, Ostomy and Continence of Chinese Nursing Association and Party Leader of Northwest and Northeast China. She was also invited to chair academic sessions, deliver special lectures and attend free expert consultation. Nurse Zhao Pengwei and Chief Nurse Wen Xiulin grabbed the first and second places in the characteristic science popularization works (graphic group), respectively. The team submitted more than 10 articles. Yang Quncao, Nurse-in-Charge from Department of Surgical Oncology, delivered an oral presentation entitled "Application of knowledge, belief and practice based health education model in nutritional management of patients with colorectal cancer undergoing preventive ileostomy". Qiao Lina, Jin Xianzhen, Li Bao and Zhao Pengwei contributed poster presentations, respectively.

FAH is the first in Northwest China to simultaneously organize International School of Stoma Therapist and International School of Wound Therapists. The graduates play an active role in advancing the development of wound, ostomy and continence nursing in local hospitals. During this meeting, multiple graduates served as academic positions in the new Professional Committee of Wound, Ostomy and Continence of Chinese Nursing Association, rewarding their schools with excellent specialist results and appreciating their professional cultivation.
