On July 14, 2023, Department of Education successfully held the publicity meeting of National Summer Camp for Excellent College Students 2023 of the First Affiliation Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), which is initiated by XJTU Health Science Center.
From nearly 1,200 college students in 156 medical colleges and universities nationwide, Department of Education selected 22 outstanding students from Fudan University, Wuhan University, Shandong University, Southeast University, Xiamen University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Lanzhou University and Jilin University to participate in summer camp activities in-person.
The publicity meeting comprises "publicity presentation by departments + on-site visiting + interview meeting". On the morning of July 14, the publicity meeting of different departments was organized in Science and Education Building, which was chaired by Qi Lei, Deputy Director (temporary post) of Department of Education. Professor Lyu Yi, Vice President of XJTU, Director of XJTU Health Science Center and President of the FAH of XJTU, gave a vivid ideological and political lesson to the students by telling stories surrounding him. Professor Liu Huasheng, Deputy Director of Department of Education, introduced the enrollment of postgraduate students, and then illustrated Department of Internal Medicine, Department of Surgery, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Department of Pediatrics, etc. Zhu Feng, Gao Yang and Chen Chao, three candidates of Top-notch Young Talent Support Program of the FAH, had in-depth sharing and exchanges with outstanding students based on their research experience. Subsequently, a special meeting was also organized to answer the students’ questions regarding majors, tutors, scientific research and personal development, etc.
In the afternoon, the students were organized to visit the hospital history museum, Biobank and Translational Medicine Center, and then interview and assessment meeting attended by the tutors with intentions was also held during the summer camp. The entire summer camp was held in a lively and well-organized manner, receiving unanimous recognitions from national outstanding students.
The publicity meeting initiated the enrollment of postgraduate students recommended for interview in 2024. Subsequently, we will sort out application information of other outstanding college students, coordinate organizing online summer camp interview by different departments, further expand the enrollment publicity, and explore, recruit and cultivate outstanding talents, contributing to the construction of National Medical Center and rapid and high-quality development of the hospital.
