Two famous foreign professors actively called for the appointment of exchange in Anesthesia and Surgery Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University to establish long-term cooperation and exchange. They also visited Clinical Technology Experiment Center.
In the afternoon of March 29, 2017, academic exchanges were executed with Professor Suraphong Lorsomradee of Medical College of Chiang Mai University about topics in enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) such as anesthesia depth monitoring, haemodynamics management, cerebral oxygen monitoring and oxygen reserve monitoring in the meeting room of Anesthesiology Department of the hospital. He proposed that the application of dynamic mutation indexes such as SVV, PPV and PVI should be emphasized to realize goal-oriented liquid management. He demonstrated the methods of using cerebral oxygen monitoring to guide early diagnosis and treatment of cerebral oxygen supply and demand by clinical cases. Meanwhile, Professor Lorsomradee introduced Oxygen Reserve Index (ORI). With lots of clinical cases, he showed that integration of these indexes in anesthesia might bring more benefits to surgical patients, which fully embodied the ideas of ERAS.
In the morning of March 30, 2017, Professor Randolph H.Steadman from University of California, Los Angeles exchanged topics such as haemodynamics management and coagulation system management in anesthesia of liver transplantation in the meeting room of Anesthesiology Department of our hospital. Professor Steadman emphasized that the guarantee of good perfusion was a main method to decrease adverse cardiovascular events after liver transplantation while pulmonary vascular resistance might evaluate prognosis effectively.For the management of coagulation system, Professor Steadman emphasized liver diseases might reestablish the anticoagulation—coagulation balance. It was not necessary to pursue normal ranges of indexes and indexes might be adjusted a little lower than normal values. Issues such as difference of anesthesia management between domestic and foreign liver transplantation were discussed by Director Wang Qiang, Deputy Director Li Xiaogang, Professor Zhu Yulin and Associate Chief Physician Gao Yanfeng. After the lessons, Professor Steadman visited the operation rooms and praised the advanced equipment and surgical skills.
Professor Steadman was also good at simulation teaching. In the company of Doctor Gao Wei of Anesthesiology Department and Bai Hongliang, Director of Clinical Technology Experiment Center, he visited the Clinical Technology Experiment Center of our hospital. He praised the advanced equipment and favorable teaching of the center and he advised to reinforce the training of resident doctors to improve their basic skills. Professor Steadman also shared the management mode of American simulation teaching center, standardized patient application and training of anesthesiology under B-ultrasonography.
Professors Lorsomradee and Steadman highly recognized the advanced management ideas of Director Wang Qiang and Director Bai Hongliang respectively. Meanwhile, they hoped to establish long-term multi-level exchanges with Anesthesia and Surgery Department and Clinical Technology Experiment Center to promote comprehensive progress of mutual medical teaching and research.
