From November 18 to 19, 2022, the 8th Chang 'an International Thoracic Surgery Summit Forum, hosted by Shaanxi Anti-Cancer Association and organized by Department of Thoracic Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was held in Xi 'an. Professor Fu Junke, President of the forum, and Professor Zhang Guangjian, Executive President invited over 20 prestigious experts in the field of thoracic surgery at home and abroad, such as Canada and Japan, to attend the forum. The forum was held in both online and in-person.

On November 18, Professor Yoshikawa, a thoracic surgery expert from Nagoya University School of Medicine, gave a speech entitled "Clinical application of ICG fluorescence technology in thoracic surgery in Japan". In the session of livestreaming surgery, 11 minimally invasive surgeries, such as robot-assisted Mc-Keown esophagectomy, non-intubated uniportal lobetomy, and 3-port robot-assisted lobetomy, were carried out simultaneously. Multiple experts conducted in-depth and enthusiastic discussion regarding the difficulties in the application of non-intubated anethesia technology in thoracic surgery, the application experience of ICG thoracic surgery, the initial application of innovative magnetic traction and magnetic positioning thoracoscopy, the advantages and disadvantages and learning curve of robot-assisted thoracic surgery, the rare variation of blood vessel branches in thoracoscopic segmental resection and the experience of rapid recognition of segmentectomy,etc. Statistics showed that a total of 8482 participants watched the forum online.

On November 19, the 8th Chang 'an International Thoracic Surgery Summit Forum was officially launched, focusing upon the latest and more intriguing frontier topics in the field of thoracic surgery. Professor Liu Mingyao from Toronto General Hospital in Canada shared the research progress upon ischemia-reperfusion injury in lung transplantation. Professor Gao Shugeng from Cancer Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences illustrated the changes of surgical procedures for early-stage lung cancer. Professor He Jianxing from Guangzhou Medical University delivered a lecture on innovation-driven excellent surgery and lung cancer prevention and treatment. Multiple experts from West China Hospital, Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, Cancer Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Wuxi People's Hospital contributed special lectures and conducted online discussion. The forum was diverse in content and resembled clinical work, captivating widespread resonance and heated discussion from online participants. Experts stressed that through academic exchanges and sharing and discussion, they not only broadened their academic horizons, but also put forward new prospects and goals for subsequent work.

At the end of the forum, Professor Fu Junke and Professor Zhang Guangjian delivered the concluding speeches, respectively. They highly appreciated all thoracic surgeons for attention and support for this forum. Chang'an International Thoracic Surgery Summit Forum provides an opportunity for thoracic surgeons to learn more new theories, new knowledge, new technologies and new methods, creating new ideas and making new progress in clinical work and research fields.
