Department of Rheumatology and Immunology creates new progress in the field of systemic lupus erythematosus

Department of Rheumatology and Immunology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine, School of Basic Medical Sciences of XJTU Health Science Center jointly published an article entitled "SLC7A5 expression is up-regulated in peripheral blood T and B lymphocytes of systemic lupus erythematosus patients, associating with renal damage" in CLINICAL IMMUNOLOGY. Professor Meng Liesu and Associate Professor Zhu Wenhua from Institute of Molecular and Translational Medicine, School of Basic Medical Sciences of XJTU Health Science Center, and Professor He Lan from Department of Rheumatology and Immunology of our hospital are the co-corresponding authors. Physician Tian Juan from Department of Rheumatology and Immunology is the first author of this article. Professor Lyu Shemin provided professional guidance for this research.

The latest impact factor (IF) of CLINICAL IMMUNOLOGY is 10.19 in 2022, classified in Q1 area in the field of immunology by JCR of Chinese Academy of Sciences. This study provides a novel target for elucidating the pathogenesis of systemic lupus erythematosus, explores useful biomarkers and develops new drugs for lupus nephritis, which signifies the research philosophy of BED TO BENCH and serves as a typical case of clinical and basic research cooperation.
