The 1st World Xi'an Entrepreneurs Convention was held in Xi’an on August 19. As the important parts of the convention, the Sci-Tech Talents Summit and “Alumni Gathering in Xi’an” activity were also started on August 19. A total of 600 guests, including academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, principals of colleges & universities and scientific research institutions, technological leading talents, overseas returnees, foreign experts, and representatives of financial institutions, as well as alumni representatives of 17 universities including Xi’an Jiaotong University and Northwestern Polytechnical University, attended the convention.
The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, with the aim of constructing a world-class renowned hospitl with distinct Chinese characteristics, has been adhering to “Talent-based Development Strategy” and recruiting domestic and foreign talents. In the 12 high-end talent teams introduced at this Sci-Tech Talents Summit, one team was led by Professor Benjamin A. Alman in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University. Professor Benjamin A. Alman,has been engaging in tumor cell and molecular biology study, and has gained multiple academic awards due to his outstanding contributions in fields of tumor, spine malformation, levy-roussy syndrome and trauma, including Prime Minister’s Award for Outstanding Research, Heune Outstanding Contribution Award about pediatric plastic surgery, OREF Research Award, and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Medal.
Under the overall organization of Shi Bingyin, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, the team won Class A talent project subsidy with the project “Development and Application of Individualized Precise Diagnosis and Treatment System for Thyroid Tumors”. Focusing on thyroid tumor that seriously harms the physical and mental health of people and aiming at the under diagnosis and over-treatment of thyroid tumor, this project improved the normalized thyroid tumor diagnosis and treatment scheme in combination with the latest scientific and technological achievements of team members, and developed the precise new technologies for individualized clinical diagnosis and treatment, which can be used for clinical purposes, and for saving medical resources and promoting the development of Xi’an and regional economy and hygiene.
