On December 15, 2025，the event of the “Belt and Road ‘Friendship’ International Digestive Endoscopy College” Series Training Cases, which was initiated in 2016 by Beijing Friendship Hospital, Capital Medical University, together with the National Clinical Research Center for Digestive Diseases, was officially launched in Xi’an.
The training lasted for five days and, through theoretical lectures, surgical observation, case discussions and hands-on practice, provided systematic training for digestive endoscopy physicians from countries such as Pakistan, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Ren Mudan, Director of the Digestive Endoscopy Center of the Department of Gastroenterology at the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). He Shuixiang, Director of the Department of Gastroenterology, and She Junjun, Vice President of the FAH, delivered speeches, respectively. Li Peng, Vice President of Beijing Friendship Hospital, emphasized that Chinese digestive endoscopy technology has gained international recognition and that the Xi’an Station event will further promote technology output and experience sharing.
The event focused on sharing relevant theoretical experience. Experts and professors from several well-known hospitals, such as the FAH of XJTU, and Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University, provided in-depth explanations of the 4E techniques: ESD, ERCP, EUS and ERAT. They shared the latest research findings and, in combination with clinical practice, elaborated in detail on the key operational points and precautions for each technique.
Professor Abdullah Altheyabi from Saudi Arabia stated, “This exchange has given me a much deeper understanding and appreciation of China’s digestive endoscopy technologies and equipment. I look forward to bringing the knowledge and techniques I have learned back to my own country, so as to provide higher-quality medical services for patients and improve the level of diagnosis and treatment.”
The event of the “Belt and Road ‘Friendship’ International Digestive Endoscopy College” Series Training Cases has become an important bridge connecting medical professionals in China with their counterparts in countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. As the Belt and Road Initiative is further implemented, the FAH will deepen international exchanges, promote innovation and development in digestive endoscopy technology, and contribute more Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to the building of a community of common health for mankind.
