From September 27 to October 1, 2023, Wu Liping and He Mingqian from Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism were invited to attend the Annual Meeting of the American Thyroid Association (ATA) 2023. At the meeting, the team delivered a poster presentation entitled Time restricted eating with or without low carbohydrate diet significantly improve thyroid and myocardial function in populations with metabolic syndrome: a randomized clinical trial. This study was designed to evaluate the effects of LCD, TRE and combined interventions on thyroid and myocardial function in MetS patients. The results have shown that thyroid function and myocardial enzymes are closely correlated with metabolic indexes. Besides, LCD, TRE and combined interventions could significantly improve thyroid hormones, thyroid autoimmunity and myocardial enzymes. The findings in this study suggest that TRE and LCD not only contribute to weight loss and alleviating MetS, but also improve thyroid function and myocardial status, highlighting the necessity of monitoring thyroid function and myocardial enzyme spectrum during the process of weight loss management.
