From March 22 to 25, 2023, Zhang Yong, Director of Surgical Oncology, was invited to attend the 76th Annual Meeting of the Society of Surgical Oncology. During the annual meeting, Director Zhang Yong delivered extensive exchange and discussion with experts and scholars worldwide, and mainly discussed multiple comprehensive approaches to improve the quality of life and prolong the survival of cancer patients, including remote home care for cancer patients and interventions for patients with advanced cancer, etc. He deeply realized that in the field of tumor treatment, we should "empower surgery with technology rather than empower technology with surgery". The pursuit of technology is endless, whereas the premise of pursuing technology is to ensure the therapeutic effect of surgery. Pursuing technology for the sake of technology is the wrong direction.
