To improve operational levels of clinical skills and lay a solid foundation for international students to successfully pass National Qualification Examination for Medical Practitioners, Teaching Department-Clinical Skills Training Center of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) conducted clinical skill training by integrating "artificial intelligence (AI) + virtual simulation" and in-person teaching and demonstration for international students from October 9 to 14, aiming to comprehensively strengthen teaching quality of clinical skills and stimulate their learning enthusiasm for international students in China. More than 70 international students of Class of 2019 from India, Iran and other countries majoring in Clinical Medicine participated in this training session.
This training course intimately meets the requirements of the qualification of medical practitioners from each country and designs a detailed training plan and abundant training contents, covering medical record collection, clinical thinking, nursing skills and surgical technologies, etc. In the training module of medical record collection, Doctor-U AI medical record collection system was firstly adopted for standardized patients (SP) training module. This module not only becomes the highlights of this training, but also provides trainees with an all-round and multi-level learning experience, providing novel ideas and modules for basic clinical skill training of medical record collection.

During the training process, multiple practice procedures such as SP English consultation of simulated cases, medical record collection of AI virtual patients, in-person teaching and demonstration and team operational training were carried out, which not only consolidated training knowledge, but also strengthened the capability of treating complicated and emergent cases. Meantime, the introduction of AI technology has also brought a brand-new teaching mode and learning experience, enabling the trainees to deeply understand clinical operational process, thereby improving their learning interests and effects.

This training course not only provides valuable learning opportunities for international students, but also adds new impetus into teaching reform and innovative development of clinical practice education in FAH. Subsequently, FAH will continue to explore in-depth integration of AI technology and medical education, contributing wisdom and strength to training more outstanding medical talents.
