On November 14, 2023, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held the appointment ceremony of Visiting Professor for Professor Keita Kikuchi, Director of Coronary Program of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery from Tokyo Bay Urayasu Ichikawa Medical Center in Japan, aiming to promote the construction of two centers and high-quality discipline development. Vice President Han Jianfeng, Liu Jia, Deputy Director of Department of Human Resources and heads of relevant departments attended the ceremony. The appointment ceremony was chaired by Yan Yang, Vice President of Cardiovascular Disease Hospital and Director of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery.
At the appointment ceremony, Director Yan Yang introduced Professor Keita Kikuchi's work experience, areas of expertise and research achievements. Vice President Han Jianfeng presented the Certificate of Appointment for Visiting Professor and the emblem of XJTU to Professor Keita Kikuchi.
Professor Keita Kikuchi stressed that the hospital has established an excellent international exchange platform for the development of cardiovascular surgery discipline, hoping to strengthen bilateral cooperation in minimally invasive surgery, scientific research and talent training of coronary diseases, deliver academic exchange and mutual learning, and jointly promote the innovation and development of minimally invasive technology in cardiovascular surgery.
Vice President Han Jianfeng illustrated that during the critical stage of the construction of two centers of the FAH, the joining of Professor Keita Kikuchi will significantly enhance the levels of minimally invasive technologies of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, and further strengthen the discipline construction and talent team construction of the Department. He hoped that the Department can grasp this rare opportunity to learn from Professor Keita Kikuchi, strengthen surgical capability and make up for weaknesses, aiming to build a first-class cardiovascular disease center and bring benefits to the people.
