On July 16, 2022, the fourth lecture of IN Talk "National Medical Center" International Dialogue-China-U.S. Dialogue-Special Session for CNS Top-notched Lecturers was successfully held online. Professor Gan Boyi, Director of Radiation and Cancer Metabolism Program of MD Anderson Cancer Center in U.S., was invited as the keynote speaker. Professor Wu Jiao from Cell Biology Teaching and Research Office of Basic Medical Science Academy of Air Force Medical University, Professor Zhang Yilei from School of Basic Medical Sciences of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Director of Department of Human Resources, heads of Department of Infectious Diseases, OPO and Clinical Research Center, and relevant staff from Department of Radiation Oncology and Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) attended the lecture.

Professor Gan Boyi delivered a lecture entitled “Targeting Ferroptosis in Cancer Therapy”, shared the definition, pathological correlation and defense mechanism of ferroptosis, and then shifted to the corresponding strategies for ferroptosis in cancer treatment. On May 12, 2021, the team led by Professor Gan Boyi from MD Anderson Cancer Center published an original article entitled “DHODH-mediated ferropodosisdefence is a targetable vulnerability in cancer” in Nature, which first discovered the ferroptosis defense system located in mitochondria independently of glutathione (GSH), offering critical implications for cancer treatment. Subsequently, the guests and Professor Gan Boyi discussed how to perform in-depth study of ferroptosis.

Finally, Ren Hui, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office, gave a concluding speech, hoping to establish academic exchange platforms for clinical disciplines by taking advantage of IN Talk International Dialogue. Next, she expected bilateral sides can carry out in-depth international exchange and cooperation in talent training and scientific research,etc.
