On April 25, the Health Commission of Shaanxi Province held a grand farewell reception for the seventh batch of China medical team in Malawi and conferred the flag of "China Medical Aid Team in Malawi". The medical team consists of staff from medical institutions from Shaanxi province. They are scheduled to leave for Malawi to perform 1-year foreign aid mission. Dr. Zhou Rongsheng, Physician from Department of Anesthesiology, joined the medical team on behalf of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University.
The team members unanimously expressed that they would actively perform the national medical aid mission, safeguard the interests of the motherland and maintain the reputation of the medical team.
The medical team arrived in Malawi on the afternoon of April 30. At present, Physician Zhou Rongsheng has been familiar with the local medical situation and gradually handed over the work in Kamzu Central Hospital. He will formally start the medical work next week.
China established diplomatic relations with Malawi on December 28, 2007. In 2008, a medical team consisting of 7 members from Shaanxi province was dispatched to Malawi, becoming the first batch of medical aid team to Malawi. Until the end of 2018, China has dispatched 6 batches of medical teams to Malawi, highly praised by the local government and people.
