FAH holds a farewell ceremony for medical aid experts of China-Africa Counterpart Hospital Cooperation Mechanism Project and a welcoming ceremony for medical staff from Malawi for further education in FAH

On February 19, 2024, the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held a farewell ceremony for two experts shouldering the task of short-term medical aid abroad, Li Junjun from Department of Radiology and Wang Zhonglin from Clinical Laboratory. Vice President She Junjun, Wang Zheng, Assistant-to-President and Director of Medical Department, directors of Department of Radiology, Clinical Laboratory and related administrative departments, and representatives from different departments attended the ceremony, which was chaired by Deputy Director Yao Hongmei.

In his speech, Vice President She Junjun hoped that two experts will give full play to the role of "mentoring" and teach the Chinese regimens and technologies to medical staff from Malawi, persistently improve clinical technological levels and achieve breakthroughs in Malawi, and build a “permanent” medical team for counterpart hospitals in Malawi.

Assistant-to-President Wang Zheng stressed that medical aid experts started a new journey at the beginning of the new year, and China-Africa Counterpart Hospital Cooperation Mechanism Project is one of critical measures to deepen China-Malawi friendship. He believed that two experts can successfully complete their tasks and return to FAH with honor.

Wang Xiaoqin, Director of Clinical Laboratory, and Yang Jian, Director of Department of Radiology, emphasized the significant responsibility of medical aid abroad, hoping that two experts can bring advanced medical technologies to Malawi counterparts and accelerate medical development in Malawi. Two medical aid experts abroad expressed that they would cherish the opportunity of this medical aid task and give full play to their advantages and spare no efforts to successfully complete the task.

On the afternoon of February 19, FAH held a welcoming ceremony in the Science and Education Building for medical staff from Malawi for further education in FAH.

At the meeting, Vice President She Junjun, on behalf of the hospital, extended warm welcome to 10 medical staff from Malawi, highlighting that China and Africa have a long history of friendship, and bilateral sides have always worked hand in hand to promote the development of human health career. China-Africa Counterpart Hospital Cooperation Mechanism Project has also captivated high recognition and support by central governments of China and Malawi. He hoped that this further education project can be rewarding and productive for medical staff from Malawi.

Representatives from Kamzu Central Hospital and Mzuzu Central Hospital in Malawi gave speeches, expressing sincere gratitudes for this exchange and study platform for medical staff from bilateral sides established by this project. They cherished this valuable opportunity for further education provided by the Chinese government and FAH, hoping to bring advanced medical regimens and technologies they had learned back to Malawi, serve the people of Malawi and safeguard the lives and health of the Malawi people.

Subsequently, on behalf of relevant departments, directors of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Clinical Laboratory, Department of Radiology and Department of Ultrasound Medicine warmly welcomed medical staff from Malawi to FAH, hoping that bilateral sides can further strengthen exchanges in medical protocols and technologies to jointly drive the development of health career in Africa.

China-Africa Counterpart Hospital Cooperation Mechanism Project plays a significant role in improving medical levels and elevating the quality of medical services in African countries, strengthening China-Africa friendship and coping with global health challenges. This project serves as an important measure implementing health cooperation between China and Africa, showcasing FAH’s firm belief in cherishing life, loving peace and strving to build a shared future for human health and wellbeing.
