On November 27, 2021, Dr. Hu Yaguang from Department of Ophthalmology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was invited to give a presentation entitled Efficacy of modified folding intraocular lens suspension surgery in treatment of traumatic dislocation of lens in English at the 14th Joint Meeting of Japan-China-Korea Ophthalmologists. The submission, video production and presentation were completed under the guidance of Director Pei Cheng, Professor Xie Anming, Physician Li Jingming and Physician Liu Xuan, showcasing the innovative and exquisite intraocular lens suspension surgery skills of our hospital to the ophthalmologists from China, Japan, South Korea and even the whole world. The presentation and surgical video were highly recognized by the organizing committee of this meeting and online audience.
The Joint Meeting of Japan-China-Korea Ophthalmologists was jointly initiated by Chinese Society of Ophthalmology of Chinese Medical Association, Japanese Ophthalmological Society and Korean Ophthalmological Society in 2008, aiming to promote the exchange and cooperation among China, Japan and South Korea in novel techniques, research and applications in the field of ophthalmology, promote the capacity building of ophthalmologists, especially the young ophthalmologists, further drive vigorous development of ophthalmology in Asia, and enhance the academic status and influence of Asian ophthalmology around the globe. The Joint Meeting of Japan-China-Korea Ophthalmologists is held each year in China, Japan and South Korea alternatively. Due to the impact of COVID-19 pandemic, the 14thjoint meeting this year was held online.
Department of Ophthalmology in our hospital is a modern multi-functional department integrating medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention and treatment ofblindness. In recent years, the department has developed rapidly, becoming a regional consultation center for complex and severe eye diseases. The science and technology influence of ophthalmology specialty ranks 2nd in northwest China.
