Zhang Mengmeng grabs the first prize of excellent paper in the 16th National Congress of Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases

From September 19 to 25, 2020, the 16th National Congress of Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases in conjunction with the 2nd International Forum on Infectious Diseases, organized by Chinese Medical Association and Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases of Chinese Medical Association, was held in the online mode. This annual congress is the first gathering of epidemiologists amid the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. It is the 16th National Congress of Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases of Chinese Medical Association in conjunction with the 2nd International Forum on Infectious Diseases between Chinese Society of Infectious Diseases of Chinese Medical Association and Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).

Professor Zhao Yingren from Department of Infectious Diseases of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), actively led the team members to attend the annual congress, deliver special speeches and preside over the congress. Zhang Mengmeng, a graduate student from Department of Infectious Diseases, conducted in-depth study on the clinical problem of lack of evidence-based data in the first-edition "Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment of Mother-to-Child Transmission of Hepatitis B Virus in China" formulated by the study team. In addition, Zhang Mengmeng delivered an oral presentation entitled "Safety of pregnant women and fetuses after interferon exposure during pregnancy: systematic evaluation and meta-analysis" and shared the research results accomplished by the team in this field, which was highly recognized by the online and on-site experts and professors. After expert evaluation, Zhang Mengmeng grabbed the first prize of excellent paper. This is the second time that Zhang Mengmeng attended the national-level academic congress. A conference abstract previously submitted by Zhang Mengmeng was included by the Annual Convention of Asia-Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver Diseases.

Zhang Mengmeng is currently a graduate student from the team led by Professor Zhao Yingren from Department of Infectious Diseases of our hospital. The team has been dedicated to the clinical and basic research on blocking the mother-to-child transmission of hepatitis B virus for more than 20 years, and has made remarkable achievements. The team has obtained over 20 national projects, received the first prize and second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Shaanxi Province. Every year, the research results by the team have been reported in the Annual Congress of the American Association for the Study of the Liver Diseases and EuropeanAssociation for the Study of the Liver Diseases. Besides, the team members have been invited to deliver academic exchanges in 26 cities and provinces across the country, captivating widespread attention and recognition from their counterparts at home and abroad.
