Recently, the 34th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) and the Annual Meeting of the International Society for MR Radiographers & Technologists (ISMRT) were held in Cape Town, South Africa. The meetings focused on cutting-edge technologies, innovative research, and clinical applications in magnetic resonance. Leading experts and scholars, industry leaders, and frontline technical professionals from the global radiology community gathered to discuss new trends in the field and new directions in technological innovation, providing a high-level platform for academic exchanges and cooperation to advance the high-quality development of radiology worldwide.

During the meetings, the Department of Radiology at the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) fully demonstrated its research strength and clinical innovation capabilities, earning recognition from the international community. More than 30 research achievements from the department were accepted by the meetings, including 21 from Zhang Ming’s brain science innovation research team. Department Director Yang Jian, Deputy Directors Guo Jianxin and Liang Ting, and several members of the research team were invited to attend the meetings, participate in international academic exchanges, and share the team’s research findings.

At the meetings, Chief Technologist Guo Jianxin delivered two oral presentations on innovative research in the precise diagnosis of heart failure, supported by his solid research foundation and outstanding professional expertise. The presentations were titled “Diagnostic Value of CMR in HFpEF with Normal NT-proBNP: A Multiparametric Tissue Characterization Study” and “HFpEF With Normal NT-proBNP-Multiparametric CMR Confirms Diffuse Myocardial Fibrosis”. The studies focused on heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and normal NT-proBNP levels. Using multiparametric cardiac magnetic resonance tissue characterization, the studies precisely explored the imaging diagnostic value of myocardial fibrosis, providing new imaging evidence for precise diagnosis, clinical assessment, and individualized treatment of this special group of patients with heart failure. The studies attracted close attention and received full recognition from international experts in attendance. During the meetings, department members actively participated in academic exchanges and thematic discussions, exploring cutting-edge technologies and sharing research experience with leading experts from around the world. These activities broadened their academic horizons and significantly enhanced the FAH’s visibility and influence in the international field of radiology.
