Ophthalmology team invited to attend ARVO2024 in USA for academic exchange

From May 5 to 9, 2024, ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology) Annual Meeting 2024 was held in Seattle, USA. Ophthalmologists, optometrists and scholars at all professional stages from all over the world gathered for academic exchange and released the latest research results and treatment opinions.

With the supports from Professor Pei Cheng, Deputy Chief Physician Gao Ning, Chief Physician Li Li and Chief Physician Lei Jianqin, an 8-member ophthalmology team including physicians, technicians and graduate students was invited to attend ARVO Annual Meeting 2024 in USA for academic exchange. During the annual meeting, the research results from the ophthalmology team attracted widespread attention from well-known scholars and researchers from multiple prestigious colleges and universities, such as Cornell, SUNY-Buffalo, OSAKA, Pittsburgh and UTMB University, etc.

Deputy Chief Physician Liu Zhao focused upon the ocular surface disease and described the protective role of autophagy activation during ocular surface inflammation in dry eye models. Deputy Chief Physician Li Jingming discovered the regulatory role of NLRP1 in retinal ganglion cell apoptosis by establishing RVO rat models. Attending Physician Liu Xuan unraveled the molecular pathway of Plec homeodomain and LPP2 damage to retinal ganglion cells under high glucose state from the cytological perspective. Resident Physician Fan Yimeng analyzed and evaluated different types of astigmatism in adult myopia from the perspective of optometry. Technician Ma Jixian discussed the protective effect of canagliflozin on retinal vessels. In addition, PhD student Qin Yazhou, Resident Physician and postgraduate student Bian Yue and Qu Yuyao also presented basic and clinical research results in poster presentations.

At this meeting, ophthalmologists, PhD and postgraduate students grasped this rare opportunity to conduct face-to-face and one-on-one academic exchanges with physicians and scholars of all ages worldwide, gaining fruitful outcomes and valuable experience.
