From March 23 to 28, 2024, the teams of Zhang Guanjun and Liu Xi from Pathology Department were invited to attend and deliver oral presentations at the 113th United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) Annual Meeting.
USCAP is the most influential international academic organization in pathology. USCAP Annual Meeting 2024 was held in Baltimore, USA.
USCAP Biliary and Pancreatic Session consisted of oral presentations from 8 medical institutions including Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, University of Pittsburgh and the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), etc. On March 26, 2024, Deputy Chief Physician Liu Xi gave a presentation entitled "Clinicopathologic and Molecular Characterization of SMARCA4-Deficient Carcinoma of the Gallbladder", illustrating the clinicopathological and molecular characterization of SMARCA4-deficient carcinoma of the gallbladder, which captivated widespread attention and recognition. She also delivered academic discussion and exchange with President of the annual meeting, Professor Ralph Hruban, Director of Pathology Department of Johns Hopkins University and Director of Sol Goldman Pancreatic Cancer Research Center, and other participating experts.

After the meeting, Deputy Chief Physician Liu Xi also revisited Pathology Department of Johns Hopkins University, hoping to strengthen academic exchange and cooperation between FAH and Pathology Department of Johns Hopkins University.

This is the first time that physicians from Pathology Department of FAH delivered oral presentations in top-notched international academic meeting, signifying that clinical diagnosis and scientific research innovation capabilities of Pathology Department of FAH have been confirmed by international peers in this field. Attending this annual meeting will promote in-depth communication between FAH pathologists, oncologists, and international peers, contributing to the construction of National Medical Center and Regional Medical Center of FAH.
