From September 4 to 9, 2023, Professor Yang Jian, Director of Department of Radiology of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), attended AOSOR “Asian Tutorial” 2023 organized by Asian Oceanian Society of Radiology (AOSOR) in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan. This meeting was hosted by AOSOR and organized by Kazakhstan Society of Radiology. The venue was located in University Medical Center (UMC) of Nazarbayev University. More than 200 experts, young radiologists and resident physicians in radiology from tens of countries and regions, such as China, Austria, Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Pakistan, attended the meeting. Professor Raushan Rakhimzhanova, Chairman of Kazakhstan Society of Radiology, and Professor Tairkhan Dautov, Vice Chairman of Kazakhstan Society of Radiology, Rainer Rienmueller, a prestigious professor from Medizinische Universität Graz, and Professor Natalia Rubtsova from P. A. Herzen Moscow Cancer Research Institute were invited to attend the meeting.

AOSOR and Kazakhstan Society of Radiology have held multiple tutorials, aiming to promote the development of radiology in Central Asia, cultivate young radiologists and resident physicians in radiology to master core clinical expertise of radiology, and conduct academic exchange and cooperation. Professor Yang Jian delivered two lectures entitled Neonatal brain development and injury in MR Neurology and Low dose CT: What radiologists need to know, respectively.

During his visit to UMC of Nazarbayev University, Professor Yang Jian participated in the morning shift and film reading seminar in Department of Radiology of Heart Surgery Center of UMC and National Women and Children Clinical Center, and conducted in-depth discussion with Professor Tairkhan Dautov, Director of UMC Radiology Center, and Professor Zhanar Abdrakhmanova, Director of Department of Radiology of Astana Medical University. Bilateral sides agreed to prepare for strengthening cooperation in brain development of infants with congenital heart disease, development of low-dose CT for children and artificial intelligence technology for radiology, etc.

In response to the Xi'an-Central Asia Summit 2023, this academic visit is also a research inspection by Department of Radiology, which deepens the understanding of radiology in the five Central Asian countries and strengthens mutual academic exchange and friendship.
