To promote the wide spread of new ideas, technologies and progresses in the international and domestic study of Alzheimer's Disease (AD), the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and China Association for Alzheimer’s Disease held “2018 International Summit Forum about New Progress of Alzheimer's Disease (in Xi’an)” on May 30, 2018. Famous American scientists and well-known domestic experts and scholars were invited to share the new progress of the diagnosis and treatment and study of AD from aspects of clinic, preclinical study, biomarkers, early detection of AD, pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment at the forum.
Invited by Xi'an Jiaotong University, Professor Virginia Man-Yee Lee, academician of American Institute of Medicine and of National Academy of Inventors, Professor John Q. Trojanowski, academician of American Institute of Medicine and of American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Professor Li Kun Cheng, Vice President of China Association for Alzheimer's Disease, Professor Wang Jue and Professor Qian Yihua from Xi'an Jiaotong University made the academic reports at the 2018 International Summit Forum on New Progress of Alzheimer's Disease.
Professor Ma Xiancang, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, first gave a welcome address to participants on behalf of the hospital, and put forward hope for today's multidisciplinary exchange and development. Professor Virginia Man-Yee Lee discussed the transmission hypothesis and pathological protein subtype hypothesis of misfolded Tau proteins of neurodegenerative diseases in the report of "Transmission of Misfolded Proteins in Neurodegenerative Disorders: A Common Mechanism of Disease Progression". And then, Professor John Q. Trojanowski delivered the report of “Sowing and Spreading of Tau in Pure Tau Protein Disease and Alzheimer's Disease”, and proposed the key to the development of clinical drugs for the pathogenesis of AD. Professor Li Kuncheng reported the "Application of Resting State Functional Magnetic Resonance in AD", and discussed the clinical imaging features of patients with AD. Later, Professor Qian Yihua and Professor Wang Jue made an excellent report on the "Internalization of Receptor-mediated Amyloid Protein Cells" and the "Progress in the Study of Cranial Nerve Regulation”, respectively. Finally, Professor Qu Qiuming reported the situation and results of cognitive disorder in our hospital.
Chinese and foreign experts fully and effectively communicated and exchanged with attended teachers and students. Through such summit forum, we have learned more about advanced international diagnosis and treatment concepts, and also improved the cooperation and exchange of neurology, imaging and foundation medicine, and life science, which can better promote the development of academic subject, push clinical research and basic research, and benefit more patients with neurodegenerative disorders.
