From April 28 to May 1, 2023, the American Urological Association (AUA) 2023 Annual Meeting was held in Chicago, Illinois in U.S., with the ever largest scale, the highest academic level and the highest number of participants. Nearly 10,000 urologists and scholars from all over the world attended the annual meeting. At the invitation of the Organizing Committee, Professor He Dalin, young physician Yang Lin, Associate Professor Wu Kaijie and Xu Xiaofeng, doctoral student Liu Guoxiong and graduate student Jiang Dong of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) attended the annual meeting.

During the 4-day meeting, the team delivered 1 Podium Presentation at the main venue and 4 Poster Presentations at the sub-venue, illustrating the latest research results in prostate cancer, bladder cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia, especially the pioneering work in clinical application of semiconductor blue laser in urology, which attracted widespread attention from peers at home and abroad. According to statistics, 36 among over 2,000 presentations were given by urologists and scholars from Chinese mainland. The FAH contributed the largest number of presentations and assigned the largest number of participants among domestic hospitals.

Department of Urology is approved as a National Key Discipline, National Key Clinical Specialty and Clinical Research Center for Urological Disease in Shaanxi Province. Under the leadership of Director Li Lei, the department has been long-term devoted to scientific research and international exchanges, especially the training of young physicians or graduate students by providing sponsorship for distinguished young physicians or graduate students to study abroad or attend international conferences for multiple years, aiming to strengthen their academic influence. Department of Urology sent a team to attend 2023 AUA Annual Meeting held after COVID-19 pandemic and showcased the latest academic achievements in urology of the hospital on this global stage.
