The 6th U.S.-China Health Summit opened in Xi'an

On the afternoon of September 2, 2016, the 6th U.S.-China Health Summit opened in Xi’an. The summit was jointly hosted by the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences/Peking Union Medical College, School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University, and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, organized by the U.S.-China Health Summit and co-organized by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and a press conference was held.

The purpose of the U.S.-China Health Summit is to actively promote the exchange and cooperation between the present and future leaders of China, the United States and other countries in the medical and health related fields and to stimulate the development of global health through high-level strategic dialogues, leadership development and applied research.

As one of the outcomes of the 6th round of U.S.-China Strategic Economic Dialogue, this summit focused “Health for All through Innovation”. Representatives present at the meeting will also participate in the discussion and exchange through eight topic sub-forums of U.S.-China Public Health, Modern Hospital Management, Medical Science and Technology Frontiers, Healthy Cities, Stroke Prevention and Control, Precision Medicine, “Internet + Integrated Care”, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and Health Investment and Financing.

The convening of the U.S.-China Health Summit is a witness of the development and glorious achievements of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University in the past 60 years and also another demonstration of the overall strength of the hospital. The summit was prepared by the preparatory group and the First Affiliated Hospital, aiming to present a health event to each distinguished guest present at the meeting and contribute to the construction of “Healthy China”.

It is believed that this summit will surely have a broad and far-reaching impact, add brilliance to “Healthy China”, better achieve a series of “Sustainable Development Goals” proposed by the UN, and lead and promote the further development of global health and wellness.
