Team members of Professor Ren Hong of Department 2 of Thoracic Surgery of the Cancer Center of our hospital, Doctor Sun Xin and Doctor Xiao Guodong were invited to attend the 39th San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) with visit of official business and poster exhibition.
The 39th SABCS was held on December 6, 2016 of American central time in San Antonio, Texas for 5 days. This symposium was co-organized by Scientific Center of University of Texas, Cancer Treatment and Research Center (CTRC), American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and Baylor College of Medicine. As the largest special meeting about breast cancer worldwide, this symposium attracted nearly 8,000 experts and scholars from more than 90 countries. Doctor Sun Xin and Doctor Xiao Guodong attended this symposium at the invitation of chairman committee of SABCS.
During this symposium, Doctor Sun Xin deeply studied the influence of miR-146a/Lin28/Let-7/Snail control loop on breast cancer stem cells and speculated the negative feedback loop of IRAK-1/NF-κb/ Lin28 in miR-146a controlling Let-7 in his poster exhibition of “miR-146a promotes asymmetric division of breast cancer stem cells by up-regulating the expression of Let-7 indirectly”. Doctor Xiao Guodong revealed the important effects of miR-367, a key regulatory factor controlling renewal and pluripotency maintenance of breast cancer cells, on controlling growth and dry features of breast cancer in his poster exhibition of “miR-367 promotes growth of breast cancer cells and dry feature expression by controlling the expression of FBXW7 negatively”. Their research achievements exhibited on the posters were fully recognized by Professor Shou-ching Tang, member of the chairman committee, and Professor Xin-Hai Pei from University of Miami.
Broad cooperation has been executed by Professor Shou-ching Tang, Director of Cancer Treatment Center of University of Georgia, with the team of Professor Ren Hong.
