The annual conference of 4th African Society of Regional Anesthesia (ASRA) and 7th Sudan Society of Anesthesia (SSA) was held at Khartoum, capital of Sudan, from January 24 to 27, 2016. Associate Chief Physician Wen Jian of our hospital attended the conference at the invitation of the Director of Anesthesiology Department of Omdurman Friendship Hospital.
Nearly 300 anesthetists from Africa, Europe, and the US, have attended this conference. Associate Chief Physician Wen Jian, who was on duty of aid Africa project in Sudan, brought up the school-level new medical technology “Nonintubated Anesthesia in Thoracoscopic Surgery under Spontaneous Breathing” in the conference, arousing wide concern of anesthetists from various countries attending the conference , and was invited to teaching hospital of University of Khartoum to make further communication. Wen Jian also shared the experience of ultrasound-guided nerve block and vessel puncture of anesthesiology department of our hospital with the counterparts from Africa at the workshop on ultrasound-guided peripheral nerve block. The progress achieved on regional block anesthesia of anesthesiology department of our hospital in recent years has been showed to the public, which has further raised the international reputation and influence of our hospital.
