Professor Liu is a doctor of medicine and doctoral tutor. He is a prestigious expert in the field of hepatobiliary surgery in China. He was approved to enjoy the special allowance of the State Council and Sanqin Talent Allowance of Shaanxi Province. He is currently the Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University, President of Hepatobiliary Disease Hospital. He is a member of Expert Committee for Appraisal of Hospital Comprehensive Performance, Standing Committee Member of Chinese Health Information Association, Director of Hospital Infection Management and Quality Control Center of Shaanxi Province and a drug negotiator in Shaanxi Province. He is a member of the Standing Committee of the 13^th People's Congress of Shaanxi Province and member of the Educational, Scientific and Cultural Committee, Deputy Director of China Peasants’ and Workers’ Democratic Party Committee of Shaanxi Province and Director of Xi 'an Jiaotong University Committee and member of the 13^th and 14^th CPPCC of Xi’an.

Academic and scientific achievements

Professor Liu has been awarded 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2 first and 2 second prizes of Science and Technology Progress Award of Shaanxi Province, 1 first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of Education Department of Shaanxi Province, 1 first, 1 second and 1 third prizes of Science and Technology Progress Award of Xi' an. He has undertaken 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China projects, 2 key projects of Shaanxi province and 1 project of National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of PRC. He has edited (translated) and participated in the editing of 9 monographs. Since 2008, he has published 91 academic articles, including 40 published in SCI-indexed journals with a cumulative impact factor of 109.15, and 43 articles in core Chinese journals. He has tutored 15 doctors and 50 masters.
