Chen Mingwei has been engaged in clinical treatment, teaching and scientific research of respiratory diseases for nearly 35 years. He took the lead in establishing a joint diagnosis and treatment center for sleep apnea in northwest China, providing guidance for patients with obstructive sleep apnea to properly utilize ventilator. He actively adopted new technologies for bronchoscope-assisted diagnosis and treatment, and achieved high efficacy in treating airway stenosis by argon plasma coagulation under bronchoscope. He initiated the establishment of multidisciplinary collaborative diagnosis and treatment outpatient for early lung cancer screening, providing efficient, convenient and "one-stop" medical services for lung cancer patients, and receiving favorable approval from patients and their families. Chen Mingwei is Head of Innovation Team for Diagnosis and Treatment of Respiratory Disease of Shaanxi Province. He has cultivated more than 50 doctoral and postgraduate students. He has established intimate cooperation with international counterparts from the U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand and Sweden, etc., and sent multiple graduate students abroad for further study.

Chen Mingwei has obtained 3 New Medicine and Technology Awards. As deputy editor-in-chief and editor-in-chief, he participated in drafting multiple national textbooks for medical majors published by People's Medical Publishing House and China Science Publishing & Media and audio-visual textbooks. He has hosted national CME course of New Progress in Diagnosis and Treatment of Lung Cancer and Shaanxi provincial course of New Progress in Diagnosis and Treatment of Common Respiratory Diseases for multiple times. He has hosted 5 National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 sub-project of National Major Science and Technology Project and 5 other provincial and ministerial scientific research projects.

Chen Mingwei has obtained 1 first prize of Teaching Achievement Award of XJTU, 1 second prize of Teaching Achievement Award of Shaanxi Province, 1 second prize and 1 third prize of Modern Educational Technological Achievement Award of Shaanxi Province.
