On October 22, 2022, the 4th Pain/ERAS Training Course of Shaanxi Province, hosted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and co-organized by Pain Study Group of Shaanxi Nursing Association and Pain Study Group of Shaanxi Province Health Care Association, was successfully held. The meeting was held online and in-person, and more than 300 participants attended the meeting online. Fan Xiaoe, Deputy Chairman of Pain Study Group of Shaanxi Nursing Association, Head of Pain Study Group of Shaanxi Province Health Care Association and Chief Head Nurse of Department of General Surgery, served as President of this meeting.
The meeting aims to improve the capability of nurses in standardized assessment and management of pain and promote extensive application of ERAS. Through learning professional knowledge, nursing staff are expected to carry out comprehensive observation and evaluation for patients, effectively improve the effect of pain management, relieve the pain of patients, accelerate rapid recovery and enhance the quality of life.
The meeting was chaired by Guo Yuan, Head Nurse of Department of Plastic and Maxillofacial Surgery in our hospital. Professor Fu Junke from Department of Thoracic Surgery and Xin Xia, Director of Nursing Department, delivered opening speeches, respectively. In the expert lecture session, doctoral student Dong Xuyuan from Department of Oncology interpreted the latest edition of pain management guidelines. Professor Gu Wei from XJTU Health Science Center interpreted the research of pain nursing/evidence-based nursing practice (ERAS). Fan Xiaoe, Chief Head Nurse of Department of General Surgery in our hospital gave a speech entitled "Application of ERAS through physician-nurse coordination in perioperative period of thoracic surgery", showcasing the practice and development of ERAS in surgery. Yang Xiuling, Head Nurse of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in Xijing Hospital, was invited to explicitly introduce the practice of pain nursing management in cardiac surgery. Subsequently, Qiao Lina, Chief Head Nurse of oncology ward of Department of General Surgery in our hospital, shared a lecture entitled "Rapid recovery of delayed wound healing after surgery". Zheng Gezhi, Deputy Head Nurse of the Department of Infectious Diseases, shared the work carried out by the Pain/ERAS Group from 2021 to 2022 and delivered a speech entitled "Analysis of quality control status of pain/ERAS", analyzing the present situation, existing problems and subsequent improvement in the Pain/ERAS Group. During the final session of clinical pain and ERAS case sharing, three experts from our hospital shared the process and summarized the experience based on the nursing cases of respective departments, showcasing comprehensive and full-course pain management and ERAS nursing practice.
Finally, Chief Head Nurse Fan Xiaoe delivered a concluding speech.
