Department of Thoracic Surgery successfully holds the 12th National Symposium on Palmar Hyperhidrosis

On October 22, 2022, the 8th Chang 'an International Summit Forum on Thoracic Surgery (1stsession) in conjunction with the 12th National Symposium on Palmar Hyperhidrosis and the 4th Annual Meeting of Sympathetic Surgery of Wu Jieping Medical Foundation, hosted by Shaanxi Anti-Cancer Association and organized by Department of Thoracic Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), were held in Xi 'an. Prestigious experts in the field of palmar hyperhidrosis from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Tianjin, Sichuan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Fujian, Jilin, Yunnan, Gansu, Taiwan and Shaanxi provinces were specially invited to attend the symposium, which was held both online and in-person.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Zhang Guangjian, Director of Department of Thoracic Surgery of our hospital. During the symposium, Professor Tu Yuanrong, Chairman of Professional Committee of Palmar Hyperhidrosis of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and Chairman of Professional Committee of Palmar Hyperhidrosis of Wu Jieping Medical Foundation, Professor Hu Jian, Head of Palmar Hyperhidrosis Group of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and Professor Fu Junke, Academic Leader of Department of Thoracic Surgery of our hospital were invited to deliver speeches, respectively.

The symposium was divided into four academic topics, and relevant experts were invited to share the latest-edition Chinese Expert Consensus on Palmar Hyperhidrosis, the real-world research on compensatory hyperhidrosis after palmar hyperhidrosis in China, the latest research progress on sympathetic nerve reconstruction, follow-up study of short- and long-term quality of life after palmar hyperhidrosis and analysis of intraoperative anatomical variation of thoracic sympathetic nerve, respectively. The symposium focused upon the current frontier issues and latest advances in palmar hyperhidrosis, submerged in intriguing lectures and intense academic atmosphere. The lectures aroused resonance and heated online discussion from multiple thoracic surgeons. Academic visions of all participants were further expanded through in-depth discussion of hot issues and fruitful outcomes. Experts not only put forward novel prospects for basic and clinical work of the diagnosis and treatment of palmar hyperhidrosis, but also made positive contributions to jointly enhancing clinical diagnostic and therapeutic levels of palmar hyperhidrosis and promoting technological progress in China. Statistics showed that the total number of hits for the livestreaming symposium was 5,037, and 505 participants were watching the symposium simultaneously at the peak.

Finally, Professor Liu Yanguo from Peking University People's Hospital delivered a concluding speech, highlighting that the 12th National Symposium on Palmar Hyperhidrosisis one of the series meetings of the 8th Chang 'an International Summit Forum on Thoracic Surgery. By adhering to the theme of "Inheriting Innovation, Forging Ahead", the symposium is committed to providing a platform for academic exchange and experience sharing for thoracic surgeons, boosting the development of thoracic surgery and elevating the diagnostic and therapeutic levels ofthoracic surgery, aiming to bring concrete benefits to the patients.
