Recently, Physician Jiang Yi from Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) successfully grabbed the "Top Elite Scholarship Award" and "Elite Popularity Award" in the second AP-SHD·China Structural Heart Disease Academic Week·VitaFlow® Elite Competition, which fully demonstrated the elegant demeanor of the physicians from our hospital and showcased the strength of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery in the field of interventional diagnosis and treatment of heart diseases.

China Structural Heart Disease Academic Week is an academic conference with the widest coverage and the highest participation in the field of cardiac structure in China. AP-SHD·VitaFlow® Elite Competition, as an important part of China Structural Heart Disease Academic Week, gathered multiple domestic top-notched experts in the interventions of structural heart diseases. Surgeons displayed intriguing case presentation via "identifying the problem", oral debate and "rush to answer". It is a large-scale TAVR academic competition with multiple talents and fierce participation. As a team representative, Physician Jiang Yi participated in the competition. After fierce competition, he finally grabbed the "Top Elite Scholarship Award" and "Elite Popularity Award"! He shared a case of TAVR via the ascending aorta complicated with severe aortic stenosis and insufficiency, and elaborated the difficulties and advantages of TAVR from the aspects of surgical strategy and risk assessment, leaving a deep impression on the judges. Professor Zhu Zhengbin from Shanghai Ruijin Hospital praised him as "a brave but meticulous man from northwest China".

In recent years, interventional technologies of valvular heart disease have developed rapidly. The cardiovascular surgery team from our hospital closely keeps pace with the times, conducts innovative explorations, strives to forge ahead and successively completes highly-demanding interventional procedures via multi-route and multi-flap position in the aortic valve (via femoral artery, aorta and apex), middle mitral valve (via apex and left atrium), middle aortic valve (via apex and femoral artery) and middle tricuspid valve (via femoral vein, right internal jugular vein and right atrium), respectively. The team regards patients as the center and implements the concept of “safety, minimal invasiveness and accelerated recovery” throughout clinical practice.
