To thoroughly implement the Healthy China strategy, serve the people's health, vigorously promote the capacity building of national clinical specialties during the 14th Five-Year Plan, strengthen the construction of key specialties and accelerate high-quality development of public hospitals, Capacity Building and Continuing Education Center of National Health Commission started to screen “Minimally Invasive Thyroid Intervention Advancement and Training Base” from high-quality medical institutions nationwide on July 19, 2022. It aims to further strengthen the capability and service level of minimally invasive intervention teams and promote the implementation of precise capability improvement project of minimally invasive intervention in county hospitals through remote training, face-to-face training, base training, surgical demonstration and teaching and scientific research.

After multi-cycle screening, intense defense and expert evaluation, Department of Ultrasound Medicine of our hospital was finally approved as one of the nine  "Minimally Invasive Thyroid Intervention Advancement and Training Base"  in China. In the nationwide defense session, Department of Ultrasound Medicine showcased standard guideline control, preoperative diagnosis, surgical procedures and complication management, and finally received the title of "Minimally Invasive Thyroid Intervention Advancement and Training Base" by National Health Commission with the 5th highest score. Subsequently, the Department will undertake the promotion and teaching of ultrasound-guided diagnosis and ablation of thyroid nodules throughout China.

In 2017, Department of Ultrasound Medicine of our hospital took the lead in carrying out ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) of thyroid nodules and ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation of thyroid nodules in northwest China. Ultrasound-guided FNA of thyroid nodules is recommended by multiple experts and guidelines at home and abroad as the most sensitive and specific procedure for preoperative differentiation from benign to malignant thyroid nodules. Department of Ultrasound Medicine in our hospital is one of the departments initially carrying out this procedure in China. With intimate cooperation with Department of Pathology and Department of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Ultrasound Medicine has achieved a leading level in the diagnostic accuracy of thyroid nodules and evaluation of cervical lymph node metastasis at home and abroad through combined use ofmultimodal ultrasound (two-dimensional, color, elasticity, contrast-enhanced ultrasound), FNA, Tg detection of lymph node puncture fluid, gene detection and other technologies, and the quantity of FNA also ranks among the top hospitals in China.
