Recently, the affiliations of Innovative Task List of Artificial Intelligence Medical Devices were officially released. The project entitled Real-world Data Application Center of Artificial Intelligence Medical Devices Based on Chronic Disease Management in Northwest China declared by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was approved as one of 15 projects in the field of Real-world Data Application Platform for Artificial Intelligence Medical Devices, which was also the only approved project in Shaanxi province.
Under the guidance by Professor Yan Hong, Professor Xu Zongben, Professor Wang Maode and other experts, this project was driven by major clinical needs. Through efficient cooperation among the medicine, engineering, information and other disciplines of XJTU and tremendous support from Department of Science and Technology, Pharmacology Base and Clinical Research Center of our hospital, Professor Liu Chang served as the leader of this platform. Professor Yang Jian, Professor Ye Kai, Professor Guo Hui, Professor Wang Yawen, Professor Zhang Hua, Professor Li Qiling, Professor Cai Hongwei and Professor Xu Songhua acted as the discipline leaders, focused upon the key issues of the research and development of medical devices and organized all members of each discipline to jointly complete this project.
Our hospital has established a novel medical model of combining artificial intelligence medical devices with real-world medical data application platform, which has promoted comprehensive integration and development of prevention, treatment, management, rehabilitation and protection of chronic diseases in northwest China and led intimate coordinated development of big data, Internet and artificial intelligence with medicine and health in the future.

Based on the established real-world data application centers (Figure 1, 2), these unveiling tasks aim to further establish a comprehensive platform and evaluation system for research and development, data application and processing of artificial intelligence medical devices. Considering the characteristics of chronic diseases in northwest China, real-world data application center of artificial intelligence medical devices for chronic disease management in northwest China is scheduled to be launched in 2023, which will efficiently provide high-quality real-world research data of artificial intelligence medical devices for chronic disease management and evaluate the data quality from the representativeness, integrity, accuracy, authenticity, consistency and repeatability. The data application centers of five projects of artificial intelligence medical devices including coronary heart disease, endometrial cancer, neonatal cerebral palsy, metabolic abnormality and epilepsy will be evaluated and validated to enhance multi-dimensional data integration and processing capability of the software system on this platform, establish five application centers of artificial intelligence auxiliary treatment standards related to chronic diseases in China, build up two intelligent application platforms of real-world databases based on the distributed micro-dose CT scan and "dry, wet and live databases"-integrated Biobank, formulate the evaluation schemes of artificial intelligence-based medical devices for chronic diseases evidenced by real-world data, carry out real-world data evaluation of related products, build a leading evaluation system of artificial intelligence medical devices for chronic diseases in China, thereby accelerating rational allocation of medical resources and elevating the capability of chronic disease management in northwest region and even across China.
