Recently, Professor Zhang Guangjian, Director of Department of Thoracic Surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University(XJTU), participated in the establishment of "The Use of Indocyanine Green Fluorescence Imaging in Thoracic and Esophageal Surgery-Asia-Pacific Consensus Recommendations", which was published in The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, the official journal of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons. The consensus and guideline articles published by this journal lead the direction of thoracic surgery development worldwide.

It is the first international expert consensus on the use of fluorescence imaging in thoracic surgery. The expert panel consists of 12 experts from Asia-Pacific countries and regions, including Yachiyo Medical Center of Tokyo Women's Medical University, Korea University Guro Hospital, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), the University of Hong Kong, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital-Linkou in Taiwan province, National Heart Centre Singapore, Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Australia and Max Hospital, New Delhi in India. In this expert consensus, seven focus areas in the use of indocyanine green fluorescence imaging in thoracic surgery, especially lung cancer and esophageal surgery, were reviewed, discussed and explained, and corresponding expert consensus recommendations were established according to the level of evidence.
Professor Scott J.Swanson from Brigham & Women's Hospital of Harvard University, the leader of minimally invasive thoracic surgery in the U.S., was specifically invited to contribute anInvited Commentaryentitled "Going Green: Efforts to understand and recommend new technology in thoracic surgery".
