Recently, researchers in Department of Urology and Neurosurgery Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University published an online article entitled "Systematic discovery of mutation-directed neo-protein-protein interactions in cancer" in Cell (impact factor: 41.582).

In this study, the first mapping of prevalent variant-enabled neo-protein-protein interactions (neoPPI) was drawn, revealing that the mutated amino acid groups can directly induce protein binding and form new tumor-specific interactions. Thus, these findings providea series of novel ideas for the study of carcinogenesis mechanism of gene mutation, discovery of targeted drugs, and clinical translation.

As a participant of this study, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) is the 5th affiliation. Tang Cong, a doctoral student of Professor He Dalin from Department of Urology and Alafate Wahafu, a doctoral student of Professor Wang Maode from Neurosurgery Department are the co-authors of this article, and they participated in the whole experiment and article publication process.
