On the afternoon of April 13, the kick-off ceremony of “Chinese Institute of Bone Health—Health Demonstration Center for Bone Metastasis from Breast Cancer of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University" was launched in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU).
Chinese Institute of Bone Health was jointly established by Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology (CSCO) and Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Medical Development Foundation. Under the leadership of Vice Chairman of CSCO, Professor Jiang Zefei from PLA General Hospital and other authoritative domestic experts, Chinese Institute of Bone Health is committed to further promoting multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment system of bone metastasis and establishing benchmark hospitals. Our hospital was approved as one of the first nine Health Demonstration Centers for Bone Metastasis from Breast Cancer promoted by Chinese Institute of Bone Health in China.
At the ceremony, Liu Qingguang, Vice President of our hospital, emphasized the significance of establishing Health Demonstration Center for Bone Metastasis from Breast Cancer. Subsequently, Yang Jin, Deputy Director of Department of Oncology, and Ren Yu, Deputy Director of Department of Breast Surgery of our hospital, received the plaques of Health Demonstration Center for Bone Metastasis from Breast Cancer. Experts from Department of Orthopedics, Department of Pharmacy, Department of Pathology, Department of Oncology, Department of Radiotherapy, Department of Breast Surgery, Department of Imaging, Department of Pain, Department of Nuclear Medicine and Cancer Center attended the launching ceremony. Eight coordinated hospitals in Shaanxi and other provinces attended the meeting online, and participating experts discussed the diagnosis and treatment of bone metastasis from breast cancer.
Witnessed by all the participating experts, the MDT team experts from demonstration centers were awarded with the honorary trophy of "Chinese Institute of Bone Health". During academic session, experts reached a consensus on the necessity of establishing MDT diagnosis and treatment system for bone metastasis from breast cancer, and exchanged ideas regarding a typical case of bone metastasis from breast cancer. Experts from relevant departments attending the meeting delivered comprehensive analysis and discussion on the clinical case, and put forward valuable opinions and suggestions.
In the future, Health Demonstration Center for Bone Metastasis from Breast Cancer will also continually hold MDT series academic conferences on bone metastasis from breast cancer. In each conference, two hospitals from Shaanxi and other provinces are scheduled to be invited and conduct academic exchanges, deliver MDT consultation on bone metastasis cases, share therapeutic experience of experts from different regions, and jointly formulate treatment plans through multidisciplinary collaboration of MDT teams, aiming to promote the standardization of diagnosis and treatment of bone metastasis from breast cancer and safeguard the bone health of tumor patients.
