On September 4, the 6th China Pancreatic Oncology Conference concluded. Multiple members from the pancreatic disease diagnosis and treatment team of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) were invited to participate in the multidisciplinary team (MDT) consultation on behalf of the MDT diagnosis and treatment team of western China, showcasing the features of diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic disease in the western region to their counterparts nationwide.

In the keynote speech on the morning of September 4, Professor Ma Qingyong chaired the meeting and discussed the frontiers and research progresses on pancreatic oncology. In the MDT special consultation in the afternoon, Professor Li Enxiao served as the chairman of the meeting. Director Wu Zheng served as the guest expert of case discussion in Changhai Hospital. The MDT pancreatic disease diagnosis and treatment team from the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU was invited to deliver academic discussion and exchange, the only MDT team in the western region. Professor Wang Zheng gave a speech entitled "PC for 7y, How we do?" and guided the MDT team for academic discussion, receiving unanimous recognition from the experts at home and abroad.
During the program of "Live a healthy life" of Shaanxi Television Station 1 week ago, Director Li Enxiao showcased the pancreatic disease MDT of our hospital as a representative. It was a MDT consultation on a rare case of pancreatic tumors, presided by Professor Wang Zheng from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery. After MDT consultation by Imaging Department, Department of Pathology, Department of Oncology, Department of Radiation Oncology, Department of Urology, PET-CT and Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, the pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor and pancreatic metastasis of renal clear cell carcinoma were differentiated. Finally, Wu Zheng, Director of Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery performed the first case of robot-assisted local pancreatectomy combined with end-to-end anastomosis in western China.

In the project evaluation of National Natural Science Foundation of China this year, the pancreatic disease diagnosis and treatment team of our hospital obtained 4 funding projects for pancreatic oncology, including 1 surface project and 3 youth scholar projects. In recent years, the team has grabbed nearly 30 national funding projects, and published more than 10 articles in Chinese and international academic journals as of the first half of 2021, including 2 articles in JCR1 Area journals (IF>10 in 2021). Meantime, the team was invited to present 5 articles covering pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma, invasion and metastasis of pancreatic cancer and nerve infiltration of pancreatic cancer at AACR, ASCO and APA, respectively.
The provincial-level innovative serial courses entitled "Innovative Practice of Pancreatic Diseases and Internet+", chaired by Professor Wang Zheng and participated by all team members, were launched on the platforms of Treenity and MOOC.

Under the leadership of Director Wu Zheng, the pancreatic disease speciality group of Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of our hospital has made significant contributions to surgical treatment, endoscopic intervention and management of severe pancreatic diseases, taking a leading position in the treatment of rare diseases and tumors in China and beyond. The team spared no effort to achieve the goal of organ preservation and precision treatment and became the first to perform Da Vinci robot-assisted middle pancreatectomy, end-to-end anastomosis and Da Vinci robot-assisted duodenal pancreatectomy in western China, captivating widespread recognition from experts and counterparts at home and abroad.
