From July 3 to 4, the inaugural meeting of Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Neurospinal Surgery of Shaanxi Medical Doctor Association (SMDA) in conjunction with the 6th Chang’an Neurospinal Surgery Summit Forum were held in Xi 'an. The inaugural meeting was presided over by Qi Yueli, Secretary General of SMDA.
Professor He Baixiang, the academic leader of neurosurgery and spinal specialty from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was elected as Director of the 1st Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Neurospinal Surgery of SMDA, Professor Wang Dong, Deputy Director of Department of Spinal Surgery in the Second Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, Professor Yang Jun, Director of Department of Neurosurgery of Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, Professor Ji Xituan, Head of Spinal Cord and Spine Group of Department of Neurosurgery of Xijing Hospital of Air Force Medical University, Professor Bai Mangmang, President of Yan'an University Affiliated Hospital, Professor Bao Gang, Deputy Director of Department of Neurosurgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, and Professor Liao Bo from Tangdu Hospital of Air Force Medical University were elected as Deputy Directors. Professor Lian Minxue from Department of Neurosurgery in the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU and Associate Professor Li Fengtao from Department of Spinal Surgery in the Second Affiliated Hospital of XJTU were nominated as Director General and Deputy Director General of Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Neurospinal Surgery of SMDA. Professor Wang Maode, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, and Professor Zhang Hua, Director of Department of Neurosurgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU were nominated as Honorary Directors of Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Neurospinal Surgery. Professor Jian Fengzeng, a prestigious expert in the field of neurospinal surgery in China and Deputy Director of Department of Neurosurgery of Beijing Xuanwu Hospital, Professor Wang Guihuai, Director of Department of Neurosurgery in Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, and Professor Li Haopeng, Director of Department of Spinal Surgery in the Second Affiliated Hospital of XJTU were appointed as the expert consultants. During the meeting, committee members and 37 standing committee members were also elected.
Chairman He Baixiang made a declarative speech, stressing that minimally invasive concepts and technologies are the development direction of spinal cord and spine specialty, the inevitable requirement of the development pattern of disease diagnosis and treatment for physicians, and the basic requirement of the development of modern medical science for medical practitioners. He promised to lead all the members to outperform the duties in the professional committee, and contributes to healthy and sustainable development of spinal cord and spine specialty in Shaanxi province and even throughout China.
Subsequently, the 6th Chang’an Neurospinal Surgery Summit Forum of Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Neurospinal Surgery of SMDA was launched. Eight leaders and invited guests, including Ms. Qi Yueli, Secretary General of SMDA, Professor Wang Maode, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, and Professor Wang Guihuai, Director of Department of Neurosurgery of Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital, attended the opening ceremony of the forum. Experts and medical doctors from Shaanxi province participated in the meeting. The opening ceremony was presided over by Deputy Director Bao Gang.
First, Vice President Wang Maode delivered a welcoming speech. Professor Wang Guihuai reviewed the development course of neurospinal specialty in China. Secretary General Qi Yueli hoped that the professional committee can utilize this platform to carry out multi-disciplinary communication and cooperation in Shaanxi province and nationwide.
More than 30 prestigious experts from Shaanxi province and beyond, including Professor Wang Zhenyu from Department of Neurosurgery of Peking University Third Hospital and Honorary Head of Spinal Cord and Spine Group of Neurosurgery Branch of Chinese Medical Association, Professor Jian Fengzeng, Deputy Director of Department of Neurosurgery of Beijing Xuanwu Hospital and Chairman of Professional Committee of Neurospinal Surgery of Neurosurgeon Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, delivered intriguing presentations covering the latest research progress on the diagnosis and treatment of spinal diseases, especially minimally invasive concepts and techniques, self-discipline and rights protection of physicians and writing skills of scientific articles,etc.
Professional Committee of Minimally Invasive Neurospinal Surgery of SMDA will give full play to the concept and technological advantages of minimally invasive neurosurgery, and undertake multi-disciplinary cooperation among neurosurgery, orthopedics, rehabilitation and pain, aiming to popularize and improve the minimally invasive theory and skills of specialists in the field of spinal cord and spine in Shaanxi province and even the northwest region and provide better services for patients with spinal cord diseases.
