From June 24 to 26, 2021, The 9th Western Forum of Neonatology in conjunction with The Forum of Early Development of Children in China, co-hosted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Northwest Neonatology Cooperation Group (Network), Professional Committee of Pediatric Health of Chinese Medical Doctor Association-Professional Committee of Early Development of Children, Neonatology Branch of Shaanxi Medical Doctor Association and Neonatology Branch of Xi 'an Medical Association, were held in Lanzhou, aiming to improve the theoretical and technical levels of the neonatology specialty and early development of children in all-level hospitals throughout China, strengthen cooperation and exchanges among different regions, especially in the western China.
Approximately 500 professionals and colleagues from the west region and even the whole country attended the forum. The opening ceremony was presided over by Wang Fan, Director of Department of Neonatology of Lanzhou University Second Hospital, and Yi Bin, President of Gansu Provincial Maternity and Child-care Hospital. Professor Liu Li from our hospital and Chairman of the forum delivered a speech. With the theme of "Sharing Knowledge, Promoting Progress, Strengthening Friendship, Cooperation and Development", the forum aims to spread new knowledge, new ideas and new technologies, sharing the latest development in the field of neonatology worldwide.
The forum consists of main venue, congenital and hereditary disease sub-forum and nursing sub-forum. Prestigious professionals and experts in the field of neonatology throughout China were invited to deliver more than 50 academic lectures, covering the current status and challenges of treatment of ultra-premature infants in China, research progress on breastfeeding and biological clock rhythm, intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR)-clinical problems and long-term effects,etc. Professor Liu Li, Vice President of Professional Committee of Pediatric Health of Chinese Medical Doctor Association, illustrated the current situation and thinking of prevention and treatment of anemia in premature infants. Zhou Xihui, Director of Department of Neonatology of our hospital, shared the supporting and opposing evidence of the application of vasoactive drugs in premature infants. During the nursing sub-forum, Hu Xiaojing, Director of Children’s Hospital of Fudan University, introduced the capability of nursing team to ensure the nursing quality and safety. Peng Wentao, Deputy Director of West China Second Hospital of Sichuan University, elucidated the pathway of clinical nursing research in NICU. Duan Xufeng and Yang A’ping, Head Nurses of Department of Neonatology of our hospital, discussed the research progress on prevention and treatment of neonatal thrombosis and oral feeding of premature infants. Meantime, excellent cases and papers from all over the country were collected. Finally, 2 first prizes, 10 second prizes and 13 third prizes were awarded.
