Our hospital receives the honorary title of Role-model Hospital of "Telemedicine System" for Improving Medical Services from 2018 to 2020 by National Health Commission

In February 2021, the General Office of National Health Commission issued theNotice on Reporting and Commending Role-model Hospitals for Improving Medical Services from 2018 to 2020(National Health Commission General Office [2021] No.40), aiming to report and commend role-model hospitals, departments and individuals evaluated from 15 perspectives including 5 working systems and 10 innovative measures for improving medical services. The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) received the honorary title of Role-model Hospital of "Telemedicine System" for Improving Medical Services from 2018 to 2020 by National Health Commission.

As the explorer and pioneer of telemedicine in "Internet +" of Shaanxi province, our hospital has established extensive telemedicine service relationships with counterpart assistance hospitals, hospital branches and cooperative hospitals, covering a total of 142 medical institutions. With the Telemedicine Consultation Center and Specialist Telemedicine Consultation Platform, multiple forms of telemedicine services have been actively carried out including telemedicine interactive consultation, telemedicine diagnosis, complicated disease consultation/telemedicine MDT, telemedicine education lectures for patients, telemedicine themed lectures, telemedicine teaching rounds, telemedicine case discussion and live broadcasting of telemedicine academic conference,etc. In June 2018, our hospital was approved as Shaanxi Collaborative Center of National Telemedicine and Internet-based Medicine Center, which is the only provincial collaborative center in Shaanxi province. Our hospital has also signed a cooperation framework agreement on National Telemedicine and Internet-based Medicine Center with Telemedicine Management and Training Center of National Health Commission.

Through the telemedicine cloud platform, our hospital promoted the key technologies of multiple disciplines, delivered assistance to the grassroots hospitals and expanded the disciplinary influence. Our hospital has completed 4332 rounds of telemedicine consultations and education training activities from 2016 to 2020. Telemedicine consultation played a pivotal role during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our hospital successfully received professional guidance on the management of critically ill COVID-19 patients from Academician Li Lanjuan and Professor Zhang Wenhong via online connection. Through video connection, our hospital along with the medical teams in Union Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and East Campus of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University jointly delivered remote consultation for critically ill COVID-19 patients. In 2020, our hospital organized online training courses for the construction of the treatment combined with prevention capability in county-level public hospitals in Shaanxi province. Over 70,000 individuals attended the training courses and completed the online assessment.

Next, our hospital will focus on building a Regional Telemedicine Center in China, strengthen the construction of telemedicine collaboration network and contribute to the development of "Internet + health care". Our hospital will make efforts to establish telemedicine service relationship with more grassroots hospitals, strengthen communication and coordination, deliver intimate cooperation, carry out standardized and normalized telemedicine consultation and training, and continually improve the regional medical service capacity and technology. Moreover, our hospital is devoted to strengthening the construction of telemedicine service management system and constantly optimizing the telemedicine platform at the hospital and department levels. Our hospital will take actions to improve the telemedicine consultation expert database of multiple disciplines and specialties, and dynamically authorize and manage the telemedicine consultation expert database to ensure the quality and safety of telemedicine consultation. In addition, our hospital will utilize the telemedicine platform to facilitate the referral channel, simplify the referral process and consolidate the hierarchical diagnosis and treatment. Our hospital is determined to establish and improve the standards and operation mechanism of telemedicine consultation within the hospital and department, and work out incentive policies to arouse the enthusiasm of disciplines and experts. Besides, our hospital will take advantage of the regional leading role of multiple departments to persistently expand the range of medical services and elevate the overall service ability of different disciplines to new height.
