Our hospital ranks 13th nationwide and 1st in Northwest China in evaluation of clinical education quality of the affiliated hospitals of universities administered by Ministry of Education and National Health Commission

On December 25, 2020, 2020 Clinical Practice and Education Guidance Sub-Committee Conference of Ministry of Education in conjunction with Seminar of National Clinical Practice and Education Association of Affiliated Hospitals of Colleges and Universities kicked off. National Clinical Practice and Education Associationof Affiliated Hospitals of Colleges and Universities released the first session of evaluation results of clinical education quality in affiliated hospitals of colleges and universities administered by Ministry of Education and National Health Commission. The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) ranked 13th nationwide, and 1st in Northwest China.

A total of 63 hospitals were selected in the 1st session evaluation of clinical education quality in affiliated hospitals of colleges and universities administered by Ministry of Education and National Health Commission including western medicine tertiary hospitals directly under Ministry of Education, western medicine tertiary hospitals directly administered by National Health Commission, and western medicine tertiary hospitals affiliated to the universities jointly administered by ministries and provinces.

The evaluation system centers on assessing the clinical teaching effect of a certain hospital. The evaluation methods consist of objective parameters (weighted percentage=80%) and subjective evaluation by expert groups (weighted percentage=20%). Objective parameters follow the principle of result-oriented, objective and credible and coverage of the whole process, which are involved with the whole cycle of college and university education, post-graduation education and continuing education. The first-tier parameters include three dimensions: teaching staff, talent training quality as well as teaching influence and social contribution. The second-tier parameters consist of high-level teaching talents, teaching research, participation in textbook drafting, excellent courses, teachers' awards, academic achievements, students' awards, teachers' academic influence, hospital influence and social contribution. The three-tier parameters contain 44 more-elaborating parameters.

Regarding the subjective evaluation, 136 medical education experts fromTeaching Guidance Committee of Clinical Medicine Specialty in Colleges and Universities of Ministry of Education, Teaching Guidance Sub-Committee of Clinical Practice in Colleges and Universities, Certification Working Committee of Clinical Medicine Specialty and National Clinical Practice and Education Association in Affiliated Hospitals of Colleges and Universities were invited to complete the assessment work. The response rate of evaluation opinions was 83%. Relevant data were calculated and standardized according to certain weights and scoring rules, and finally the total score of clinical education quality of a certain hospital was obtained.

Our hospital ranks 13th in the first-session evaluation nationwide, which showcases the profound foundation of clinical education for nearly 100 years and the significant achievements in the field of medical talent training of our hospital, providing more reference for the application for undergraduate, postgraduate and standardized training in clinical medicine specialty in the future.
