In China, stroke is the leading cause of mortality and morbidity in middle-aged and elderly population. Thrombolytic therapy is considered as the most effective treatment for acute cerebral infarction. However, thrombolytic therapy is not widely applied to treat cerebral infarction in China, which is not performed in a standardized manner in many hospitals. Consequently, National Stroke Prevention Project Committee of National Health Commission has launched the selection of "China Training Base of Intravenous Thrombolysis for Stroke". According to the construction status, latest ranking of intravenous thrombolysis and arterial thrombectomy capability and training and teaching performance of more than 300 stroke centers in China, 40 hospitals were selected to enter the candidate list. After 1-week online voting, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) successfully entered the Top 15.
On the afternoon of October 29, 2020, National Stroke Prevention Project Committee of National Health Commission held an on-site defense selection in Beijing. Professor Qu Qiumin, Director of Department of Neurology of our hospital, delivered a detailed introduction of the achievements made by our hospital in the construction of stroke center, training status of stroke center, faculty and training guarantee, receiving widespread recognition from the experts and judges. Therefore, our hospital successfully passed the evaluation of "China Training Base of Intravenous Thrombolysis for Stroke", becoming the unique "China Training Base of Intravenous Thrombolysis for Stroke" in Northwest China.
As National Demonstration Base of Stroke Screening and Prevention, the first-batch Advanced Stroke Center, Five-star Advanced Stroke Center, National AdvancedDemonstration Stroke Center and Training Base of National Stroke Center, our hospital will stick to original aspiration and remain dedicated to the construction of stroke center, play a leading role in accelerating the rapid development of stroke prevention and treatment in Shaanxi Province and northwest China, make greater contributions to stroke prevention and treatment in China, aiming to attain the goal of reducing millions of new stroke-induced disabilities as soon as possible.
