The Silk Road Summit Forum on Healthcare in Western China grandly opens

On September 15, the Silk Road Summit Forum on Healthcare in Western China with the theme of "Health for all, C0-creating the Future" was grandly held in Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour. With the aim of building a community of shared health for mankind, the forum assumes the task of promoting the construction of "Belt and Road Initiative" as the main line, pursues the goal of improving the independent development capability of healthcare services, and focuses upon the hot topics of global public health emergency response and management. Academicians and top-notched scholars in the field of healthcare and medicine were invited to inspire the thinking and discuss clinical practice from the perspectives of medical science and technology innovation, medical technology innovation and hospital management innovation, aiming to build a healthy future for all.

Ma Xinge, Secretary of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) presided over the opening ceremony. Fang Guanghua, Vice Governor of Shaanxi People’s Province, Wang Shuguo, President of XJTU, Academician Gao Fu, Director of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Deputy Director of National Natural Science Foundation of China, Hou Xun, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Yang Huanming, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhao Jizong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Gu Ying, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Guan Xiaohong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhang Yingze, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Yong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Lu Chunshan, second-class Counsel-Director of Department of Planning and Information of National Health Commission and Head of Healthy China Promotion Office, Xu Peihai, Director of Administrators Training Center of National Health Commission and Executive Vice President of Party School of National Health Commission, Liu Baoqin, Director of Health Commission of Shaanxi Province, Xu Qiang, Director of Shaanxi Provincial Bureau of Statistics, Wang Jianli, Director of Education Department of Shaanxi Provincial Government, Yan Hong, Vice President of XJTU, Liu Shunzhi, Director of Xi 'an Municipal Health Commission, Qiang Sheng, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Xi’an Municipal Government, Yao Jinchuan, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Provincial Government, experts and scholars from domestic affiliated hospitals of prestigious universities and research institutions, leaders of more than 30 universities in Shaanxi province and leaders of cooperative hospitals of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU were invited to attended the summit forum.

On behalf of XJTU, Wang Shuguo, President of XJTU, delivered an opening remark welcoming all the guests. Lu Chunshan and Fang Guanghua delivered warm congratulations on the opening of the summit forum.

Yan Hong presented the Proposal of Belt and Road International Community of Health, sending a proposal to local governments, universities, medical organizations and medical research institutions along the Belt and Road, highlighting that the outbreak of novel coronavirus reminds us that solidarity can guide us to move forward. Regardless of national boundaries or races, the international community should join hands, work together and maintain multilateralism more closely than ever before during the rage of COVID-19. In the process of coping with the crisis, the international community must establish a sense of a community of shared future for mankind, take care of and help each other and work together to cope with the risks and challenges, and build a beautiful planet. Let us join hands to build a community of shared health along the Belt and Road.

During the summit forum, Nobel Laureates and representatives from universities and medical organizations from 22 countries and regions around the world expressed their willingness to join the community of shared health along the Belt and Road through video connection.

Adhering to the ancient rituals, Fang Guanghua, Wang Shuguo, Gao Fu, Lu Chunshan and other guests inked “Shared Destiny, Healthy Silk Road” on the Belt and Road silk scroll using the jade seals. The initiation ceremony of a community of shared health along the Belt and Road was officially launched!

Academician Gao Fu and Vice President Yan Hong signed a strategic agreement on behalf of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and XJTU to strengthen bilateral cooperation in discipline construction, scientific research, talent training and internationalization, aiming to make greater contributions to realizing the goal of a healthy China and promoting the building of a community of shared future for mankind. Shi Bingyin, President of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU signed donation project agreements with the representatives of Shandong Wego Group, Shaanxi JunyaoIn VitroDiagnostic Reagent Co., Ltd., Be True Community Foundation and Xi 'an Jiaotong University Education Foundation.

During the presentation session, Academician Gao Fu delivered a presentation entitled Global Public Health and Challenges in China. Yang Huanming gave a report themed Two Revolutions and Core Technologies in Life Sciences. Xu Peihai delivered a speech entitled Implementing the Strategy of Healthy China and Promoting the Action of Healthy China, which brought a feast of thoughts to all participants.

Western China Hospital Management Summit Sub-forum, Medical Science and Technology Innovation Sub-forum and Medical Technology Innovation Sub-forum were held in Hanying Building of Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbour.

Gao Xuecheng, Deputy Director of Hospital Management Center of National Health Commission, Gao Fu, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Feng Gengzhong, Director of School of Management of XJTU, Zhao Yue, Secretary of Peking University People's Hospital, Hou Junping, Secretary of Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, Liao Jiazhi, Deputy Secretary of Tongji Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Zhang Xin, Secretary of Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, Liu Limin, Secretary of Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Geng Qingshan, Secretary of Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, Jiang Jie, party committee member of West China Hospital and Director of Department of Organization were invited to attend the sub-forums. Leaders and experts from 8 hospitals from the Shared Health Alliance in Western China and over 100 collaborative hospitals of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU participated in the Western China Hospital Management Summit Sub-forum.

Gao Fu shared his experience in the presentation entitled China’s Road to Prevent and Control COVID-19. Gao Xuecheng gave a special report on Issues in the Management of Public Hospitals. Feng Gengzhong delivered a presentation themed Digital Transformation and Development Strategy in Medical Industry.

Liao Jiazhi, Jiang Jie, Zhao Yue, Zhang Xin, Liu Limin, Geng Qingshan, Hou Junping and Ma Xinge, Secretary of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, delivered special reports, respectively.

Secretary Ma Xinge summarized that in 1937, when the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out, some teachers and students of Peking University Health Science Center moved westward to establish Xi’an Provisional University Health Science Center. The First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU was thus born. Today, medical staff in the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU utilize modern technology and offer explicit caring to seek health and happiness for the mankind. We should assume the mission and bear the responsibility to make contributions to realizing the dream of healthy China and national rejuvenation.

Medical Science and Technology Innovation Sub-forum, including the sessions of academician presentation and special report, was presided over by Yuan Zuyi, Liu Chang and Ma Xiancang, vice presidents of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU. In the academician presentations, Zhang Yingze, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, member of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Honorary President of the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University, gave a presentation themed Discussion on 10 Relationships in Medical Innovation. Zhang Yong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor from College of Veterinary Medicine of Northwest A&F University, delivered a speech entitled Application of Genetic Engineering in Animal Breeding.

During the special report session, Professor Yu Jun from Chinese University of Hong Kong and Director of Institute of Tumor Precision Medicine, MED-X Research Institute of XJTU, Professor Li Yunqing, Director of Brain Research Center of Air Force Medical University, Professor Tang Huiru from School of Biological Sciences of Fudan University and Zhongshan Hospital, Professor Wei Xunbin from Peking University Health Science Center, Yang Li, Research Fellow from Shanghai Institute of Life Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor Tao Yongguang from Cancer Research Institute of Central South University, and Professor Wang Yanan from MED-X Research Institute of XJTU, gave intriguing reports, respectively.

Medical Technology Innovation Sub-forum was chaired by Vice President Liu Qingguang, Wang Maode and Liu Na.

Gu Ying, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Department of Laser Medicine of Chinese People's Liberation Army General Hospital, Yang Xiqiang from Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, Xu Ruihua, President of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, Gong Jianping, Director of Institute of Gastrointestinal Oncology of Tongji Hospital affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Ma Changsheng, Director of Center for Cardiology of Beijing Anzhen Hospital of Beijing Medical University and Director of Clinical Research Center of National Center for Cardiovascular Diseases, Xu Jinfu, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital, Wu Kaichun, Vice President of Xijing Hospital for Digestive Diseases of Air Force Medical University, Wang Qiangbin, Deputy Director of Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics (SINANO) and Director of Key Laboratory of Nano-Bio Interface of Chinese Academy of Sciences, attended and gave special reports. Experts and scholars from XJTU also participated in the sub-forum. Professor Xue Wujun, Director of Kidney Disease Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, delivered a presentation entitledConstruction and Development of Organ Transplantation Discipline in China. He explicitly explained relevant conditions of organ transplantation donation from three perspectives of the history of organ transplantation, main problems in organ transplantation in China and discipline construction and summarized six characteristics of organ transplantation with Chinese characteristics from the top-level design, policy making, technology access, guidance and promotion, aiming to encourage citizens to donate organs abiding by law and create a donation and transplantation guarantee system involving the whole society. These intriguing presentations not only provide frontier knowledge and the wisdom of prestigious physicians, but also spread the moral value of philanthropy and the spirit of seeking for excellence in their work.
